Well, good afternoon and welcome back. It's good to pray with you today. Delighted to be able to pray on this day, in particular. Today is a day in which I want to remind you, it starts a nine-day novena. It's nothing official, but I'm beginning one this afternoon. It's a nine-day novena leading up to the feast of St. Faustina on October 5th. That's her feast day. It's the day that she died.
It's, I think, a special day. I really do, because St. Faustina, she made a promise to us when she died.
She said that she felt certain her mission would not end upon her death. But she says, it will begin. And I love this. She says, oh, doubting souls, that's you and me, right? I will draw aside the veils of heaven to convince you of God's goodness.
And I just thought, man, what a great promise from a powerhouse saint. Now, my mission's not coming to an end. It's only gonna begin. And for those of you that doubt, I'll pull back the veils of heaven to show you how good God really is. So today, let's ask St. Faustina to intercede for whatever your intentions are. And maybe every day, maybe pray an extra chaplet. Maybe just, I don't know, say a short prayer. Maybe the litany. There's a beautiful litany to trust. I really should put it up. It's something I pray. It'd be a beautiful nine-day novena to pray, especially if you're having difficulty. Maybe at the end of the chaplet today, if I could find it, I'll share it with you. There's two of them, but I like the ones that the Marians had, and I'll see if I can't get that for you. I'll try to maybe link over to it for you. But let's pray. Start that novena today for that addicted child, for that broken marriage, for that health problem, for those financial struggles, for that new job, for the housing problem you're having, for whatever it is.
Her voice, her mission was one of total trust in drawing souls to Christ or her prayers, and she's telling you right now from the other side of eternity, she's gonna intercede. She's gonna fight for souls. She's gonna intercede for those who doubt. And she's not kidding, so it's a, this is novena, it's not some old devotion. It's relatively new, she's only been canonized for a short time, but I really do believe we've seen the fruit of intercession already. I've talked about Father Ron Pytel and Maureen Digan and so many other people who have struggled and have found miraculous healing. So we'll do that this afternoon. I had the great privilege today also praying with Brooke Taylor. She joins me just about every day here. Brooke, thanks for praying with me again today.
Brooke Taylor (2:51)
Looking forward to it. Hi, Drew.
Drew Mariani (2:52)
So tomorrow's your big day, right? You've got your marathon, half marathon, right?
Brooke Taylor (2:58)
Yes, half marathon. And I'm really nervous. I mean, even when you just said that, my heart is racing. So I appreciate your prayers. But we prayed for my knee the other day, and it feels great. So hope I'm ready here. I have each mile just different intentions offering up. So let me know if you have any petitions, and I'll be enfolding all of our Divine Mercy warriors as well, our prayer warriors.
Drew Mariani (3:22)
So do you run the half marathon to win or just to complete it?
Brooke Taylor (3:26)
Yes, the latter. I just have never been a super fast runner, but you know, as in the spiritual life, it's the fortitude, it's the perseverance, and some of the greatest spiritual athletes, like look at St. Therese, St. Faustina, and really equating both. So just to finish is the goal.
Drew Mariani (3:45)
That's how I am with golf. I'm not out to win, right? I'm out to have a good time, right? Get out there and enjoy the beauty of the course, the weather, and the friendship that's there. So anything you want to pray for in addition to your marathon?
Brooke Taylor (3:58)
I sure do. I saw that our wonderful colleague had her baby, so I just want to pray for mom and her husband, dad, and the siblings as well for baby boy too, as they adjust and just fall in love with this beautiful new life. And then also for Jen, she is a hospice nurse, she's having a liver transplant, and her cousin is actually a living donor and is giving half of her liver. Her name is, I don't have her name actually, but Jen is the one I want to pray for, as far as her cousin too. And then also Jerry. Jerry is in hospice, she has dementia, she broke her pelvis, and she's in her last hours right now. So for her and all those who are dying and the souls in purgatory.
