Our lady, and one of the common denominators in the lives of all the saints, whether it's the saints, whether it's the Virgin Mary, whether it's Noah or Job or any of these biblical figures, they always trusted in God, right? They may not have seen the end, they might have faced persecution, I think a Shadrach, Meshach and a Bendigo, right? I didn't know how that situation was gonna end, but they trusted in God, right? As we're called to do right now, put your faith in God. I know you're going through a difficult time, maybe today, maybe you're concerned about somebody that you love, maybe you don't see a way out of the situation that you are facing. Maybe the numbers are not adding up when it comes to your finances, and time is ticking, right? Maybe the doctor gave you a bad prognosis.
Maybe the marriage looks like it's not gonna make it. I don't know, maybe the child of yours that you love is battling addiction or is in a disordered relationship. We don't see the end, God does. He sees the big picture. So I just wanna say, look, let's take a lesson from the saints.
Let's put our trust in God. Let's just trust that he loves us and he loves those that we love even more than we do. And let's put, let's walk with obedience, right, just as Our Lady did. And if you do, I tell you, God delights in it. He delights in it and he will bless you. Your prayers will be amplified and you'll be surprised at the miracles that unfold in your life. I'm convinced of that. The more a soul trusts, the more it will receive. Diary entry 1578 in St. Faustina's Diary. She spoke, I dedicated a whole chapter in my book on Divine Mercy, an entire chapter to this concept of trust and what the Lord said and what he promised. There are multiple, multiple promises. How he delights in souls that have confidence in him and in his mercy. So, that's just kind of where I'm coming from, thinking about this whole story with Noah. I mean, talking about 100 years to build an ark.
By the way, if you missed that conversation, maybe you're just tuning in. Listen to the podcast. A great conversation with Dr. John Berksman. Nick will have our show up probably about 30, 40 minutes after we sign off today. Anyway, just some food for thought. I'm joined right now by Brooke Taylor, my colleague here. Always good to pray with her. Brooke, good afternoon.
Brooke Taylor (2:44)
Hi Drew, good afternoon to you.
Drew Mariani (2:45)
How are you today?
Brooke Taylor (2:46)
Good, good to pray with you.
Drew Mariani (2:47)
So what's going on in your world? I know you are a strong advocate of all things pro-life. It's a special month, isn't it?
Brooke Taylor (2:54)
Yes, with respect, life month. And in the news covering afternoon news here on Relevant Radio, I've just been noticing this rise in really disturbing stories. We've been following that story out of California with that couple that had over 20 children born via surrogacy and they have abused the children terribly.
And just looking at the numbers as an adoptive mom, I had recently had the blessing of joining Mark Swartzberg on his show talking about infertility and the rise in the different reproductive technologies, but also the collapse of adoption, for example, at least international adoption. When you look at the US State Department, it has collapsed by 80 percent shrinking. Now the foster system is being overloaded. There's about 400,000 children in care. There's about 100,000 children in foster care waiting for adoption, and the older they are, often if they're disabled, the more difficult it is for them to be placed. And when you look at the numbers of surrogacy, right now it's a $27.9 billion industry. By 2034, they're projecting it will be a $201.8 billion industry. And a lot of predators are there. There are children who are being born that have no legal parent to adopt them. And this is something that was on my radar, but I think since I started covering the news and the frequency of absolutely heartbreaking stories, it's just really difficult and it's overwhelming. Look at IVF, we didn't even touch on that. There's over 1 million frozen embryos. And I'm so grateful, you know, our daughter adopted from Poland only in a way that the Lord could have orchestrated. I didn't even know you could adopt from Poland. And she does have some pretty profound needs, and I'm so thankful for his prompting and our own obedience in even the unknowns. And I love how you were talking about difficult situations and going back to Noah and to trust. And so I just would offer that prayer today for mothers who are in crisis pregnancies, that we might support them for the child in the womb to be safeguarded, and especially for the most vulnerable.
