I'm preparing my CV, sorry, my resume to send to John Ternus. I think I can take over from Phil Schiller or somebody other. I'm mostly available, I mean, you know, if they'll pay me $53 million a year. How are you?

Pretty good, and it turns out that's not even the extent of his pay. He's going to get additional bonuses and stock grants, so his pay could end up being north of $80 million by the end of 2027

I know when you say ludicrously high sums, it's hard to justify, but actually, I mean, you look at what he will doubtlessly do for Apple, what Tim Cook always did, he put that value in, why shouldn't he be rewarded for it? So I don't really have a problem, except when I look at my tax bill, so yeah.

Well, before we get too far into Ternus, I want to point out a little bit of news that's occurred.
This morning, or well, at least in the last day, Apple has said that developers can stop supporting their Intel-based Macs. And one developer I saw, I thought it was kind of funny. You know, several developers are kind of celebrating, like, yes, finally, I can cut this off. But at least someone said, wait, Apple's just telling me to abandon my Intel users in an email? I thought that was kind of funny.

**William Gallagher** (2:12)
It's like the email, you're right, that's exactly what it says. It's all, yay, you can abandon it, you can streamline your workflow, you can optimize your resources and stuff for you. It actually says, contact your users, I think. But at the same time, Apple's done exactly the same thing in a support document for developers. And the tone is almost the opposite. Instead of, yay, get rid of Intel, it's, look, come on, Apple Silicon is here. It actually says, if you haven't transitioned yet, do so immediately. It's really stern on that. But same message, two different ways.

It's been coming and your modern binary, obviously you can ship multiple versions of your app if you need to.
That's a little bit chaotic. So a lot of times developers will try to target a wider set of users. I don't know your numbers and it's different per app. Maybe older utilities have larger numbers for that. But that means instead of cutting off old users, you should probably just cut off new users because clearly new users aren't joining your platform. But this is going to be a weird transition period. I do think that those of you still using older utilities that rely on Rosetta are going to be surprised when you boot up Mac OS Golden Gate and they no longer work. So it is time. It is September. The updates for Mac OS Golden Gate are coming within a couple of weeks.
If you haven't done it yet, it's time to shift over to more modern apps with modern binaries. Dumping Intel models, we're talking dozens of people, maybe a couple of hundred. I don't have the numbers in front of me, but per app install, this has to be a percentage of a percentage at this point.

Yeah, you say that. Also, even if it's only a few percent, those people, yeah, matters to them. There's still people. I am really surprised by how many warning notifications I'm getting on the Golden Gate beta about things. A couple of apps, I think I've got a Kindle app that's gone. I don't care about that and it's just I haven't bothered to download the new one. I will if I go back to reading Kindle on my Mac. But I also have things like I use a Stream Deck from Elgato, and the warning there is that a component of that uses Intel stuff. I am on the latest Stream Deck software. There's nothing I can do to swap it out. So presumably Elgato is going to pull their finger out, but they're cutting it close.
