Hi, I'm Valerie and you're listening to The Beauty Brains.

Welcome to The Beauty Brains, a show where real cosmetic chemists like us answer your beauty product questions and give you an insider's look at the cosmetics industry. This is episode 270 I'm your host, Valerie George, and with me today is Perry Bromanowski. Hi, Perry.

Perry Bromanowski (0:27)

Hello, Valerie. Good to see you. It's been a little while.

Valerie George (0:30)

It's so good to see you and catch up. And on today's show, we're not only going to have that in a chit chat we always do, but we're gonna cover some mega beauty science news since it's been a couple weeks since we've been together and talked about everything that's going on.

Perry Bromanowski (0:47)

That's right. Last episode, I answered 20 questions, Valerie. And one of the questions was, where was Valerie?

Valerie George (0:56)

Yeah. Well, as you guys know, I work a lot. So first, I had a work trip. I had to travel back to the East Coast, to one of our facilities. And then my mom came to visit with my 11-year-old niece.

And we kind of just hung out for two weeks. And I spent some time in the Sierra Nevadas and Yosemite.

Perry Bromanowski (1:18)

Well, that sounds fun. And sounds like you got a lot of outdoor time.

Valerie George (1:23)

Yeah, it was really nice to be in fresh air and smell all the plant molecules and have this bit of restorative period. I did miss you guys.

You know, I came back and then from taking the time off, I was so busy catching up that I did not get to record last week. So I'm happy to be back today.

Perry Bromanowski (1:44)

That's okay. I ran through a series of questions that people had sent in that had been sitting for a little while. But we got all caught up on that and we still, but we still have a lot of questions, a lot of audio questions that were sent in. So next episode, we'll cover some of those.

Valerie George (2:00)

We're just going to have to work a little harder.

Perry Bromanowski (2:02)

We will. Also, you know what I did when, well, you were on vacation, I finally finished the book Ulysses.

Oh, good, yay. I mean, I don't know what I read, but it was interesting.

Valerie George (2:16)

Yeah, sometimes it's just like you got to get through it.

Perry Bromanowski (2:18)

You got it. And I successfully have. So now in my project to read the 150 greatest books of all time, I only have 13 left.

Valerie George (2:27)

Nice, yeah.

Well, I'm looking a little tan. And you're looking a little tan too, and I can only tell because I can see that you were wearing glasses. You're not wearing them right now. I see your tan lines.

Perry Bromanowski (2:39)

Well, you know, I put on sunscreen, but of course, you know, you go to the beach, you forget to reapply. And I was wearing it. I was wearing a hat.

But you know, if you're out in the sun for like six hours, you know, sometimes sunscreen...

Valerie George (2:54)

It says so on the bottle. There's a reason.

Perry Bromanowski (2:57)

It does, but you just forget. Let's, you know, so now I get a little, a little sun, but mostly I didn't. You know, my, my son's strategy beyond sunscreen is, you know, wear a lot of clothes. So I'm always, I never go without a shirt, for example, I always wear a hat.

Just because I'm not responsible enough to wear sunscreen really diligently.

Valerie George (3:19)

Yeah. Well, where'd you go? Ken Kuhn or something like that?

Perry Bromanowski (3:22)

No, no, I was just up in Michigan, a place called, a little place called South Haven and on the east side of the lake. So it's very nice. Yeah. Very touristy area. The beaches were nice and got to hang out with some friends I hadn't seen in a while, which is always fun.

Valerie George (3:38)

Yeah. I love Michigan summers. I think they're some of the best summers around. My mom has some family that relocated to Michigan and we would spend a lot of summers there and Michigan summers are some of the best.

Perry Bromanowski (3:52)

Did you go to Lake Michigan or one of the inland lakes?

Valerie George (3:55)

Lake Huron.

Perry Bromanowski (3:56)

Oh, okay. Lake Huron. Oh, that's way up there.

Valerie George (3:59)

Yeah.

Perry Bromanowski (4:00)

Yep. And they always have a nice fall too. They always have really pretty colors.

Valerie George (4:04)

Yes, they do. Well, welcome back Perry.
