You're listening to the Sans Pants Network.

SPEAKER_2 (0:07)

Like it possibly, you're wrong.

Joel Duscher (0:08)

Time is money. And video games cost money. And no one has any time, which means no one has any money.

SPEAKER_4 (0:16)

Demos, no time, and no money. Welcome to Demonstrober.

Jackson B. Baly (0:22)

More like Demon-strober.

SPEAKER_5 (0:25)

Mwahahahaha!

SPEAKER_6 (0:27)

Whoa.

SPEAKER_2 (0:29)

You're listening to Thumb Cramps. A sh-sh-show for the-the-those whose thumbs are cr-cr-crampin.

SPEAKER_6 (0:39)

What's up, gamers?

Joel Duscher (0:40)

And welcome to this week's episode of Thumb Cramps Video Game Review Podcast. For everyone whose thumbs are cramping, I'm Joel.

Jackson B. Baly (0:45)

I'm Jackson.

Joel Duscher (0:46)

And today we're joined by video game maker and Pokemon card seller, it's Darcy Smith.

Jackson B. Baly (0:52)

Video game legend.

SPEAKER_6 (0:54)

Thanks, everybody. Pokemon card connoisseur.

SPEAKER_8 (0:58)

That's it.

Darcy Smith (0:59)

Local, you're local scalper.

SPEAKER_6 (1:01)

Yeah.

SPEAKER_8 (1:01)

Yes, dude.

Joel Duscher (1:02)

Singles night, but not in the way that you think.

SPEAKER_6 (1:04)

Yeah, that's it.

Darcy Smith (1:05)

We're talking charizards.

SPEAKER_8 (1:06)

Yeah.

SPEAKER_2 (1:07)

Let's go speed dating the three of us.

Joel Duscher (1:09)

I've always thought about speed dating being-

SPEAKER_8 (1:12)

Oh, it's so funny.

Joel Duscher (1:12)

But then, like, I think about it being a funny idea. And I think the first two dates, it's funny.

SPEAKER_8 (1:17)

Yeah.

Joel Duscher (1:17)

And then by the time you're talking to the fourth person, you're like, what am I doing?

SPEAKER_8 (1:21)

What am I doing?

Jackson B. Baly (1:22)

Absolutely.

Joel Duscher (1:22)

Also, like, if they're there, but also, imagine speed dating, and you realize the person that's across from you is there for a bit.

SPEAKER_5 (1:29)

Oh, yeah, that's bad.

Joel Duscher (1:31)

And you're there looking for love.

Jackson B. Baly (1:32)

Or what if you fall in love?

SPEAKER_8 (1:34)

They're there for a bit.

Jackson B. Baly (1:35)

Well, you're there for a bit, but then you fall in love.

SPEAKER_5 (1:38)

Yeah.

Jackson B. Baly (1:38)

And then 20 years, you're old and you say, I have something to admit to you. I went speed dating as a joke.

Joel Duscher (1:45)

Yeah, because I thought it was pathetic.

Darcy Smith (1:47)

Imagine going to a speed dating night and then having all of these interactions with people and then doing the checklist to be like, people you don't want to go with and getting absolutely wrecked. Like the apps are one thing being like, why don't I have matches? But actually sitting in front of somebody.

SPEAKER_8 (2:04)

I'd like finish, because you finish up and you're all in the same place.

SPEAKER_4 (2:06)

Why don't I have matches?

SPEAKER_5 (2:08)

Yeah, and everybody's just there. You look at them and you go, well, none of you liked me.

SPEAKER_6 (2:12)

Okay.

Darcy Smith (2:13)

People's egos are propped up with the apps. If I had a chance, if I could just sit down in front of these women, I'm sure they'd give me a shot.

SPEAKER_6 (2:21)

There's nothing.

SPEAKER_9 (2:22)

I have no value.

Joel Duscher (2:25)

I like the idea. How do we think about this as me opening a speed dating? I go, hey, Joel, nice to meet you. I'm here for a good time, not a long time.

Darcy Smith (2:31)

That's really good. That's really good.

SPEAKER_8 (2:33)

I'm going to be first person.

Darcy Smith (2:34)

Them hearing you on the table right next to you running the same line. And then just again, one meter away, two meters away, three meters away.

That was awesome.

SPEAKER_6 (2:45)

Strike one, Darcy.

SPEAKER_8 (2:47)

It would be awesome.

Jackson B. Baly (2:48)

But how could the last person who's seen you do it like 15 times.

SPEAKER_8 (2:53)

I go, hi, Joel.

Joel Duscher (2:54)

And they go, I know you're here for a good time, not a long time.

SPEAKER_6 (2:57)

And I was like, no.

SPEAKER_8 (2:57)

And you go, how did you know?

SPEAKER_4 (2:58)

No, with you, I'm here for a great time.

SPEAKER_6 (3:01)

Damn, that's the love of your life.

Joel Duscher (3:02)

And then I become the first person to ever get sucked off under the table of speed dating.

SPEAKER_6 (3:06)

And this month, it's Demonstrober, where we're looking at demos.

Joel Duscher (3:10)

And therefore this week, we're looking at Castlevania, Belmont's Curse demo and other demos.

Jackson B. Baly (3:27)

Holy macaroni, dude.

Joel Duscher (3:29)

So as everyone that is listening to Thumb Cramps, over the last year would know, Castlevania is a game series that I had never touched, despite the fact that Metroidvania is being one of my favorite genre of games.
