Emma (0:25)
Hi, Perry.
Perry Romanowski (0:26)
Hello, Valerie. Great to see you.
Valerie George (0:29)
Great to see you. I'm so excited we're back recording because we have so many questions to cover, including how can you tell if a new product is just a name change or did the formulas change? Why can't companies sell mousse sunscreens? Why is purple shampoo drying on hair? What's the deal with the OS-01 peptide? And how do you deal with rosacea? But first, that chit chat.
Perry Romanowski (0:53)
Valerie, it's good to see you up.
Valerie George (0:55)
My shift started about seven hours ago at two in the morning.
Perry Romanowski (0:58)
You know, if you're getting up that early, you might as well also just get a cat too, because that's the time they like to get up to eat.
Valerie George (1:05)
Well, pretty kitties, kittens are out running about. Are they? I'm trying to catch them, but it's just so hard now that I have baby C to get the traps and all that kind of stuff. But I should ask someone in the Dallas area to help out with that. But then Butch and Frank would go crazy.
Perry Romanowski (1:23)
Oh, right.
Valerie George (1:24)
You know.
Perry Romanowski (1:25)
How have the dogs been with the baby?
Valerie George (1:27)
You know, at first they were like, what is this? And then I think they had a little trauma in their past life with the baby because they got really upset when they saw the stroller. But they really like him now. Mostly because they like to lick his vomit.
Perry Romanowski (1:43)
Oh, I suppose there's a lot of protein in there.
Valerie George (1:47)
Yeah. Well, remember last week we talked about Dr. Emi Skin. It was this German skincare brand by dermatologist Dr. Emi Arpa. And I said it had Barbara Sturm vibes.
Perry Romanowski (1:58)
Sure. Episode 405 Yeah.
Valerie George (2:00)
Well, yeah, it was very recent. So I did order some products because I loved the color yellow. And all I have to say is I better get my hat. So remember they were offering this hat with UPF value or whatnot.
Perry Romanowski (2:13)
Right. The hat got you.
Valerie George (2:14)
I recall it did. So I had I placed an order. I didn't see the hat in the cart, but I saw the advertisement on the website like you get your free hat if you place an order. And so I wrote them. All I have to say is that hat better come in the mail, because if it doesn't, I have qualms with them anyway. I wrote them and I said, please make sure the hat is in the package. I actually have to ship it to my cousin in Germany because it's been in the beauty news. I know we're not in beauty news yet, but a lot of people are upset that they can't get their cosmetic products from Europe shipped to them because the postal carriers aren't shipping to the US right now.
Perry Romanowski (2:54)
Right. I did see in the news that countries around the world have all decided not to ship stuff to the US. And that's because what the tariffs and stuff?
Valerie George (3:02)
Well, the tariff situation changed. So basically, you had a de minimis exemption before, where if the value was under $800, it could enter duty free. Now, the US is saying, well, you actually have to pay some tariffs on that. That's ending. And so these other countries aren't protesting the fact that US citizens have to pay tariffs on package receipts or people in the US receiving packages. But it's more or less like the process is unclear because US. Customs hasn't come out with how they're going to calculate duties pretty much.
Perry Romanowski (3:38)
Right.
Valerie George (3:38)
So they just stopped a little bit for a little bit. It'll pick back up again. It has nothing to do with anything because other countries pay tariffs all the time and importing fees. If you ship to Canada, you have to pay some fees when you get your package. Well, I'm going to get my Eme Arpa skincare. We'll just have to figure out how, even if I have to go to Germany to get it, which I will be going to Germany, but I might have to wait to get it.
