Jack Sock (0:00)

All right, on today's Something Major, we're back. It's Semi-Final Friday. We just finished Frances Tiafoe and Ben Shelton, so let's get into the show.

SPEAKER_2 (0:08)

Jack, John, Stevie and Sam got close a few times, never won a slam, nothing major.

Jack Sock (0:14)

All right, we are back. What a couple weeks in New York. We are fired up. We got John, we got Sam, we got Charlie in the suits at SIFT.

I'm home, John's home, Sam's still in New York, but let's get into some of the men's semi-finals. Let's start. Let's start with the one we just watched. Ben Shelton takes out.

Sam (0:31)

Can I start with my influencer rant real quick?

Jack Sock (0:33)

Oh, sorry. Sorry. My bad. My bad. You're right. Sorry. It's not a rant.

Sam (0:37)

One of my favorite things I noticed today when I was courtsided for Zverev, all the influencers, they come down and take their picture near the court side and they're not sitting near the court.

Jack Sock (0:45)

They walk right back up.

Sam (0:46)

Yeah. They think like, oh, look how hot I am on the court.

Jack Sock (0:49)

Like, no, you're in the loge. Of course, everyone knew that.

John Isner (0:52)

That's not a revelation.

Sam (0:53)

Yeah, but like, I know, but it's happening more here.

Jack Sock (0:57)

It's Stolen Valor.

Sam (0:59)

Yes. Like, I looked up.

John Isner (1:01)

That was well known. I mean, that was...

Jack Sock (1:03)

No, no, I think it is, but it's still annoying.

Sam (1:05)

It's, yeah.

Jack Sock (1:06)

I think we're all on the same page here, potentially.

Sam (1:08)

Looking up, a lot of the hotties are up top. They're not as close to the court as you think.

Jack Sock (1:13)

Strong. And we're doing laundry tonight, John?

Sam (1:17)

What are we doing?

Jack Sock (1:19)

You do the weirdest stuff at night.

John Isner (1:21)

I'm coaching my son's soccer team, and apparently, I'm the coach. I mean, I am the coach, but apparently, I have a coach shirt, and it's like a size, it's like for a five-year-old.

Jack Sock (1:32)

Oh, I love that for you. I like that. Squeezing it up. It's going to look good.

Sam (1:35)

I just want the influencers to know that I'm on to it. I will stern at them.

Jack Sock (1:39)

I mean, Sam, there's been grumblings around the ground. They want a new influencer rankings. Is that possible next week?

Sam (1:44)

I'm working on the new influencer rankings list as we speak.

Jack Sock (1:46)

I think summer of tennis has been had and influencers move. But shall we get into the tennis?

Sam (1:52)

Also, one other thing before too, proper, proper celeb list at the Tiafoe-Shelton match.

Jack Sock (1:58)

Proper, very proper.

Sam (1:59)

Like 50 celebs and 15 to 20 A-list celebs.

John Isner (2:04)

How many NBA players?

Jack Sock (2:05)

We hit over on the NBA, guys.

Sam (2:06)

I'm only like Brunson and Josh Hart, only two, a couple of Knicks guys.

Jack Sock (2:10)

There was like eight guys there.

Sam (2:12)

Oh, was there? I didn't even see all. I just got the list. Okay, they weren't even on the list then.

Jack Sock (2:15)

All right. All right. Well, forgive that.

John Isner (2:17)

Any more rants or shall we dive in?

Jack Sock (2:19)

No, you can go.

Sam (2:20)

Dive in.

Jack Sock (2:20)

All right. Well, let's start with the match we just watched. Ben Shelton, Frances Tiafoe. IBM had the likelihood to win at 70 percent for Ben Shelton.

I don't think that's a surprise for any of us. I think we all had been winning this one with how Frances was looking in the previous rounds, maybe not 100 percent. But Sammy, I know you just got done. You didn't call the match, but you watched it. What were your thoughts on it? How was the energy? How was the crowd?

This was a proper Friday night tennis match. God, I can't even speak. I flew all day. It was a proper night of tennis in New York at the year's last Grand Slam.

Sam (2:56)

Yeah, proper Friday night. I was there for the first two sets. I was up in a, I knew a guy in a suite, went up there, stole some of the food. They got good setup in some of the suites. They had like a nice rib eyes and stuff. It was awesome in there. Every seat taken, the good energy in the air. I'm not going to say he was on the level of Fed Nadal because it wasn't, but it was just right below that. For American tennis, this was a big deal. And it had that feel to it. Everyone was pumped up. Everyone was excited.
