Buckle up, anything can happen here.

SPEAKER_2 (0:05)

Oh, hell yeah, let it ride!

Hammer (0:06)

Let it ride!

Nigel (0:07)

Hammer and Nigel present Caller Roulette.

Hammer (0:12)

So every week, right around this time, we turn it over to you. Now, normally, we don't take a lot of calls on this show.

Nigel (0:22)

We don't need to.

Hammer (0:23)

Some news talk programs, some sports shows, it's wall to wall calls.

Between you and I, that sounds awful. But every once in a while, we like to mix it up. We like to see what you guys have to say. Sometimes we'll play How Have You Injured Your Crotch? Other times, we just do Caller Roulette.

So again, if you're on hold, if you're going to be calling in, keep it brief, keep it clean. That's all we ask for. Roger is up first. Roger, what you got, brother?

SPEAKER_2 (0:55)

Great show, guys. Listen, every day, we'll go back to 1982 I was a three-year trooper going into a 28-year career, and I was working the weekend off to make extra money on the Operation CARE, which stood for Combined Accident Reduction Enforcement. I had to work the interstate, which I didn't believe in the 55-mile-an-hour speed limit, so I always treated it as if it was 70 You could ride them all day long, 80, 85

And so I get this car, it gets my attention, and I cut the median, stop him. Lo and behold, it was Gordon Johncock. And he was on his way from Indianapolis to Michigan. That's back when they used to have the Michigan 500 right after the Indy 500

And I recognized him right away, and I told him why I stopped him for it. I said, you know, we can work this out right here. I said, do you have a, would you autograph me a car? He said, oh, I sure can. He gets out of his car, opened his truck and had a picture of himself standing beside his winning race car that he drove and signed it and gave it to me. And I said, Jesus, be careful because there's a lot of us out working on our days off. And I said, thank you, sir.

Hammer (2:03)

That's awesome. Love to hear that kind of stuff, man.

Nigel (2:06)

Gordon Johncock?

SPEAKER_2 (2:07)

It was 90?

Hammer (2:08)

Yeah.

SPEAKER_2 (2:09)

Whatever happened to my autograph card, but it was Gordon Johncock following the Indy 582

Hammer (2:14)

And you know what, Roger, our colleague at the sports station, Jake Quarry, who also works at the IMS Radio Network. I know he posted on his social media yesterday.

Jordan Johncock was one of the nicest dudes he's ever met, and he's met all of these guys.

SPEAKER_2 (2:30)

He was. He was a very nice gentleman. And he thanked me. He thanked me.

Hammer (2:34)

I bet.

SPEAKER_2 (2:35)

He thanked me upside down for not giving me a ticket.

Hammer (2:37)

Right on. Roger, I appreciate you, brother. Thank you for being a listener.

SPEAKER_2 (2:42)

I enjoy your show. Thank you, sir.

Nigel (2:43)

Thank you.

Hammer (2:44)

You got it.

Red. Big Red is up next. Red, what you got?

SPEAKER_4 (2:49)

Hey, what's going on, guys? Hey, I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'd like to give a shout out to the Indiana government.

Hammer (2:57)

Okay.

SPEAKER_4 (2:59)

So my wife works for the BMV.

And lo and behold, after about four years of no raises, they're finally getting a raise and actually getting paid a decent living wage now. So I don't know who did it and I don't know why they did it, but I'm thankful that they did it.

Hammer (3:19)

Look, if people are finally getting raises that deserve it, I'm all right with that. I'm fine with that because that means the money is actually going to somebody that deserves it. Yes, because as we said earlier, when you just turn it over to the state and they put it in the general fund, they generally waste the money. That's what happens in the general fund. They generally waste it on the slush funds for the movers and shakers of the people that have raised your taxes. So congrats to your wife. There, Red, that's awesome.

Josh is up next. Josh, welcome to The Hammer and Nigel Show.

SPEAKER_2 (3:55)

Howdy, fellas. How are you?

Hammer (3:56)

Good, man.

Nigel (3:57)

Good, Josh.

SPEAKER_2 (3:58)

Yeah, I just truck along through good old Indy here and thought I'd give you a shout. And Mr. Hammer, I apologize in advance because I know you have some bad memories from this school, but I want to give a big shout out to the Franklin Central Marching Flashes, who head down to Louisville Saturday for a competition at Louisville University. I've been pulling their band trailer, their semi-trailer for past six years, and I freaking love every bit of it. I love them kids.
