Buckle up, anything can happen here.

**SPEAKER_2** (0:04)
Oh, hell yeah, let it ride.

**SPEAKER_3** (0:05)
Let it ride.

**Hammer** (0:06)
Hammer and Nigel present Caller Roulette.

**Nigel** (0:11)
So this is the segment of the program. We do this once a week, where we turn it over to you guys.
And you guys are either feast or famine. You can either lift us up to another stratosphere and remind everybody why this has been the number one rated afternoon drive show for damn near nine consecutive years. Or you could say something really, really stupid and take us down to the toilet. That's a pretty big or it's a pretty big or I'm looking for a text that I sent you nine because we got a complaint about Caller Roulette.

**Hammer** (0:47)
That's right. Some Karen was calling.

**Nigel** (0:50)
Oh, here it is. Here it is.

**Hammer** (0:51)
Writing us.

**Nigel** (0:52)
Deanna sent us a direct message on Hammer and Nigel Facebook.

**Hammer** (0:57)
Remind me what that said.

**Nigel** (0:59)
The whoever wants to call thing feels like a concert where the band is old and tired and lets the crowd sing instead of them.
Cringy. Yuck. I always change the channel when you're doing it.

**Hammer** (1:13)
What do you mean? We do it once a week.

**Nigel** (1:16)
Once a week.

**Hammer** (1:16)
That's it. It's not like we have. There are national talk shows that open their phones.
All four segments every hour.

**Nigel** (1:24)
Right. Listen to the fan. Like they've got sports talk all day. It's nothing but numb nuts calling in.

**Hammer** (1:31)
We do it one segment per week.

**Nigel** (1:33)
For ten minutes. Tops.

**Hammer** (1:36)
And we don't even know what we're going to get here. At least there's call screeners on those national shows.

**Nigel** (1:41)
Right. The anticipation of what happens here is what makes this segment fun. Because you're right. On real talk shows, the producer would screen out who's calling in and he or she would coach them up. Turn your radio down. Don't swear. What do you want to talk about? I'll tell the guys and then they'll come to you. Allison's like, what's your name? All right. Shut up. Hold on. Put some on hold. And then Nigel and I, we fly blind and this is real reaction on the fly. That's what makes this fun.
All right. So with that being said, let's get this party started. Tom is up first. Tom, what you got, brother?

**SPEAKER_5** (2:18)
Well, I was going to say something to Deanna, but I guess she's not listening, so we'll forget that. But we haven't heard anything more on the city council, city county council on this roads tax or whatever they want to raise taxes.
Yeah.

**Nigel** (2:32)
That meeting was last night. Tom, let me jump in here real quick. We were going to have Michael Paul Hart on today because he normally joins us the day after council meetings. He's on a vacation with his family.
But we did have him a couple of days prior to this big announcement. It was brought up for discussion. But long story short, Tom, they're going to do this. They haven't officially voted on it yet. Hog sets quote unquote against it, wink, wink. But they're absolutely going to do this because they want to get the 50 million in federal funding.

**SPEAKER_5** (3:04)
So just a few quick suggestions to them on that.
EVs never get taxed for anything. There should be a usage tax on them because they're heavier and they got harder compound tires. They tear up the streets too. Number two thing is the trucks coming through the city here. When's the last time I buy saw a weight station or portable scales? They don't exist. Number three point is something that Kareem Abdulla Shabazz suggested a few years ago when he was running for mayor and it wasn't very well accepted. A 1% local sales tax on gasoline sold in Marion County, which sounds a heck of a lot better than what the city council wants to do now.

**Hammer** (3:41)
First of all, more gas, more gas taxes?

**Nigel** (3:44)
Yeah, more gas tax.
Yeah, no, it's a slippery slope. It starts at 1 cent, then it goes to 5, then it goes. And these people never leave you alone. But I will give you credit for the Kareem Abdulla Shabazz reference right there, Tom.

**Hammer** (3:58)
I think he meant to say that.

**Nigel** (4:00)
Ted is up next. Ted, what's going on?

**SPEAKER_3** (4:04)
Man, I'm when Rob Kendall was on on your radio show, when he was when he was on the radio, there was times I couldn't stand to listen to him. But now that he's gone, I miss that dude, man. I wish he was back. I know he's got his old thing going. I can't believe they let him go on for as long as he did.
