Caleb Flynn's Timeline Went From Five Minutes to Five Seconds

Hidden Killers With Tony Brueski | True Crime News & Commentary

The detective was explaining paperwork. Search warrants, phone downloads, next steps. And Caleb Flynn interrupted him: it feels like you guys are pointing it to me. Nobody accused him. Then he added that he'd never laid a hand on his wife — an answer to a question nobody had asked.

Let's continue talking. Most people watching interrogation footage, you're looking for the confession. That almost never happens in the room. What does happen are the cracks. A number that changes, a sentence that comes out of nowhere, an answer that doesn't match the actual question. Caleb never confessed, but he did crack quite a bit in the questioning. Let's take a look at more of that interrogation that went on just the other day, or not the other day, but right after the crime took place. The detective is talking about next steps, search warrants, evidence processing, hasn't accused Caleb of anything.

Well, Caleb's feeling a little looked at right now. The fingers he feels are pointing.

SPEAKER_3 (0:50)

Well, like I said, this is not me saying, you know, anything out of the ordinary. I'm just saying, you know, what I want to do is, hey, Caleb came in, we talked, I gave him an update on what I had learned about the scene, you know, and there's other things that they're still working on.

I don't want you to get the impression that this is all done and over with. It feels like it's pointing to me. Well, what's that?

Caleb Flynn (1:20)

It's just like you guys are pointing it to me.

SPEAKER_3 (1:23)

Well, I mean, that's not what I'm trying to do here. See, that's like, well, I'm not trying to come across as it's you. I mean, but what I want to say is, is that I can't do these search warrants and that stuff, and not look at everything, for sure. You know what I mean? So, so my point to that is, as I'm looking at the search warrant, and as I'm gathering all this information, you know, I don't want like, hey, we've never had an argument.

We're the perfect couple, and this, that, and the other. And then it comes out like, yeah, the other, the normal couple that has, you know, things going on.

Caleb Flynn (2:15)

And I'll be the first to admit that we are a normal married couple who love each other and disagree.

SPEAKER_3 (2:21)

Yeah.

Caleb Flynn (2:21)

We've never, I've never laid a hand on her. I've never screamed at her. I don't even know what neighbors said.

SPEAKER_3 (2:28)

No.

Tony Brueski (2:30)

Volunteering a lot, a little nuggets of information. I've never screamed at her. I've never laid a hand on her. I don't know what the neighbors are talking about. Never accused once of being a murderer either, but he's all up in paranoid that they're looking at him. Now, naturally, I think one might be a little paranoid if you're in that sort of situation and you didn't do it. I know I would be. But he was volunteering there. Did any of that read as out of the ordinary to you from someone who didn't commit a crime as to someone who's really hoping they don't figure out that you're the one who committed the crime?

Yeah.

Robin Dreeke (3:09)

So the first thing you're going to do if you didn't commit the crime, is you're going to help him solve the crime. He's like, all right, what do you need me to do? He's like, what do you need me to do?

You're focused on helping the law enforcement do their job. That's the first thing you're doing if you're innocent. It's like, what do you need from me? What can we do to make this move faster? What do we need to do to find this guy? So that should be his first and foremost thing. What do we need to do? According to the other testimony too, his daughters are paranoid. The whole family is scared to death because they think there's a murderer out there that hasn't been caught and they couldn't sleep that night. So the first thing as a father you'd be doing is, what can we do to help find this guy so my family can sleep safe? That should be the focus. But instead, he's doubling down on what I said before. He believes his relationship is his cover. And so he's talking about, have we not never laid a hand on her? We have a good, healthy relationship. And so he's doubling down on that without even being asked. And so he thinks that's the cover he needs, but it's being eroded because he thinks because he's got that relationship, they're not going to investigate and do subpoenas and find this data because why would you have to? I got a good relationship. You shouldn't suspect me.

And so when, I mean, there's a lot of things the detective could have done even more. And I would just question his responses on things. Like when he came back and said, and was insinuating that, you know, you're making it look like it's me or you think it's me. What makes you say that?
