The door wasn't locked. It wasn't even latched. But somebody pried it open anyway — and the damage was on the inside. Detective Mike Morgan told Caleb Flynn that to his face and said it didn't make a whole lot of sense. Caleb said for sure.

This is Hidden Killers Live with Tony Brueski and Robin Dreeke.

A BCI agent spent 12 hours in that house and came out and said one sentence. My conclusion was that this was a homicide stage to look like a burglary.

Morgan already knew. What you're about to hear sounds like a detective sharing updates. It's not. Every detail he puts on the table is a move.

He's watching what Caleb does when each door shuts. We're about to get into another one. Robin Dreeke, retired FBI special agency for the Counterintelligence Behavioral Analysis Program and master class instructor of course with us to help break it all down. Here we go. This is the detective bringing up the side door to the garage, the one that had the fridge in front of it, the one that was broken in from the inside. The door, the intruder story depends on, here's how Caleb reacted to all of this.

Mike Morgan (1:00)

With this, so, it showed me the side door. Do you remember how that was left?

Caleb Flynn (1:09)

Which side door?

Mike Morgan (1:10)

The one, the side door on the garage.

Caleb Flynn (1:15)

The side of the refrigerator? It's closed in the refrigerator's there.

Mike Morgan (1:22)

It was a little locked or...

Caleb Flynn (1:24)

It should have been... It should have been? Yeah. Okay. Poor guy. Being that we live in Tip City, yeah, we've never locked. Actually, we've gotten to see because the garage door is open.

So, I honestly don't know if it was locked. It should have been. We don't ever use that door because of the refrigerator's there.

Mike Morgan (1:48)

Well, because they found the door not to be latched, so it was unlocked.

Caleb Flynn (1:57)

Okay.

Mike Morgan (1:58)

But then there's all that damage to the door.

Robin Dreeke (2:02)

The door handle. Okay.

Mike Morgan (2:05)

You don't know what I'm talking about?

Caleb Flynn (2:06)

No.

Mike Morgan (2:07)

Okay.

Caleb Flynn (2:08)

I didn't go in the garage, but two steps with the officer when he first got there.

Mike Morgan (2:16)

So just to give me a rundown, can you explain to me, so you went to bed around 11, just so I'm clear on what we've discussed so far.

And you can tell me if I'm incorrect on this, or because I'm only going off of memory of what we discussed for. Okay. So 11 o'clock, you guys went to bed together. Yeah.

Caleb Flynn (2:46)

Okay.

Mike Morgan (2:47)

At what time did you leave the bed?

Caleb Flynn (2:54)

I don't know.

Mike Morgan (2:56)

It was truly a ballpark.

Caleb Flynn (3:00)

I know when we went to our room at 11, she read her book for a while.

Mike Morgan (3:05)

I scrolled Twitter.

Caleb Flynn (3:08)

So maybe 11.30, it was time for this thing, 12.31.

Mike Morgan (3:14)

I really, I didn't look. Yeah.

Caleb Flynn (3:18)

When I couldn't stop coughing, she asked me, can you please?

Mike Morgan (3:22)

Yeah. Yeah.

So then you're out in the living room asleep. And then you said you heard the dogs shuffling, like they were scratching their collar. This is what woke you. Yeah. Well, from there, you explained that you went to check on the girls because you thought maybe one of them got up.

Caleb Flynn (3:55)

Or went down the back of the water.

Mike Morgan (3:59)

And then that's what had your dogs moving around.

Caleb Flynn (4:04)

I don't know where the dogs went when I went into their room. Okay.

And just woke me up. Okay.

Mike Morgan (4:13)

So then, so then you go into the girls' room, and did you lay in there?

Caleb Flynn (4:23)

I tucked in there for a little bit, and then sat down, and he was on the bottom bunk. Okay.

Mike Morgan (4:28)

So you were sitting on the bed?

Caleb Flynn (4:30)

For a little bit, praying over him.

Mike Morgan (4:31)

Okay. Okay.

And then, how long would you say you've been there?

Caleb Flynn (4:38)

I don't know. I prayed for a couple of minutes, and then laid down until sleep. I don't know how long I fell asleep. It didn't seem long.

Okay.

Mike Morgan (4:47)

Okay. So, then from that point...

Tony Brueski (4:52)

I find it interesting the... I was praying over my daughters in the middle of the night when I'm having a coughing fit.

You know?

Robin Dreeke (5:04)

How many times? So there's a lot of questions I ask to follow up on. It's like, how many times before have you done that? If I asked your daughters that right now, would they say that you do that routinely? I mean, there's a lot of follow-up you could do to... But at the same time, when you're watching him trying to answer these, what you're seeing... Again, I don't... Non-verbal behavior is a small part of the whole when you're listening to the words being said. And all I'm seeing here is congruence with... Oh, shit, I didn't think of that.
