Joseph (2:08)
And how long have you been a detective for Tipp City?
Adam Bernard (2:10)
Approximately eight months.
Joseph (2:11)
And prior to that, where were you employed?
Adam Bernard (2:14)
I was employed at the Westchester Township Police Department.
Joseph (2:17)
How long have you been with Tipp City, total?
Adam Bernard (2:19)
Total, I've been here almost eight years.
Joseph (2:21)
Eight years. And what were you prior to being a detective with Tipp City?
Adam Bernard (2:26)
I was a patrolman.
Joseph (2:28)
What training did you receive in order to become a police officer?
Adam Bernard (2:31)
I did the standard, police academy. I've done various things such as read, interview, interrogation.
I've done things such as legal updates, First World War Amendment updates, as well as search classes as far as cartel traps and narcotics investigations and things like that.
Joseph (2:50)
Do you have any education work that has to do in your role as a police officer?
Adam Bernard (2:56)
I have a bachelor's degree in criminal justice for my sake.
Joseph (3:00)
Any other specialized training? Detective Bernardo, you were assigned to do a investigative report on the homicide on February 16th, 2026
Adam Bernard (3:08)
I was.
Joseph (3:11)
Did you respond to the call out?
Adam Bernard (3:14)
I did.
Joseph (3:15)
What time did you respond?
Adam Bernard (3:16)
Approximately 3.45 in the morning.
Joseph (3:20)
This was to 932 Cunningham Court? Who was at the scene when you arrived?
Adam Bernard (3:25)
Detective Klein and Detective Sergeant Morgan were the officers that were there.
Joseph (3:31)
What did you do when you first arrived?
Adam Bernard (3:33)
I entered the residence. I saw Detective Morgan speaking to the defendant. At that point, I spoke with Detective Klein to try and get an update on anything that had been in and out of the bin of taint since I had been called.
Joseph (3:46)
And what did you do next?
Adam Bernard (3:48)
After that, Detective Sergeant Morgan asked me to assist in getting the defendants in clothes due to the cold weather. So I had taint and clothes for the dryer, as far as the sweatshirts and socks and things like that, so I could be more comfortable.
Mulligan (4:02)
And what did you do after that?
Adam Bernard (4:04)
After that, I was advised that the PCI was going to come process the scene, so we exited the residence and went out to the cul-de-sac to secure the scene.
Joseph (4:12)
What did you do upon exiting the scene for the residence?
Adam Bernard (4:16)
We decided we were going to start canvassing the surrounding houses for any surveillance footage as well as speak to the neighbors to see if they had any information or if their security cameras had caught anything related to the incident.
Joseph (4:30)
How many addresses did you canvass, approximately?
Adam Bernard (4:32)
I went to nine.
Nine houses? Nine houses, yes, sir.
Joseph (4:36)
And without saying what they told you, what did you have relevant to the investigation?
Adam Bernard (4:39)
Nothing.
Joseph (4:41)
What did you do after you were canvassing?
Adam Bernard (4:44)
After the canvassing, I went back to the cul-de-sac to wait. PCI still hadn't arrived on scene, so we just kept the scene secure at the PCI arrive. They may advise us they wanted to go in and process the scene by themselves, so we just continued to wait for the set.
Joseph (5:01)
Okay. Eventually, did you re-enter the residence?
Adam Bernard (5:04)
We did.
Joseph (5:05)
What did you do at that time?
Adam Bernard (5:08)
Senior Special Agent Hammond led myself, Detective Sergeant Morgan and Detective Flynn, around the residence, started in the bedroom where the main crime scene was. He showed us a couple key points, and then he led us to the garage.
