I was a Chicago Police Officer for five years, just over five.

SPEAKER_3 (0:51)

Alexandra Giampapa (0:53)

I worked patrol for a couple of years, and then I worked on the 11th District Tactical Unit at the time of my resignation.

SPEAKER_3 (1:02)

How long were you working on the Tactical Unit?

Alexandra Giampapa (1:05)

Over two years, almost three.

SPEAKER_3 (1:08)

What was the Tactical Unit?

Alexandra Giampapa (1:10)

We primarily focused on gang and narcotic enforcement, so that included individuals possessing firearms illegally and saturating narcotic hotspots and gang hotspots.

SPEAKER_3 (1:24)

Do you have experience working on scenes of homicides and violent crimes?

Alexandra Giampapa (1:28)

Yes.

SPEAKER_3 (1:29)

How many approximately would you say?

Alexandra Giampapa (1:31)

Over 100

SPEAKER_3 (1:33)

Currently in the Tipp City Police Department, what are your current roles and duties?

Alexandra Giampapa (1:38)

Patrol, cemetery calls for service, neighborhood checks, building checks, traffic stops, traffic, things of that nature.

Alexandra Giampapa (1:49)

I work nights, so that's 6 PM to 6 AM.

SPEAKER_3 (1:54)

What type of training and education have you received to be a police officer?

Alexandra Giampapa (1:58)

I'm Ohio certified police officer. I have various trainings, built-in service, and online I'm a CIT officer. Those trainings range from firearms, tactics, report writing, domestic violence, things like that.

Alexandra Giampapa (2:20)

Night 6 PM to 6 AM.

SPEAKER_3 (2:22)

And were you dispatched for a call that evening?

Alexandra Giampapa (2:27)

The morning of the 16th, yes.

SPEAKER_3 (2:29)

Thank you, what time was that?

Alexandra Giampapa (2:31)

Around 2:30 AM.

SPEAKER_3 (2:33)

What was the nature of that call?

Alexandra Giampapa (2:34)

It came in as a burglary of progress.

SPEAKER_3 (2:38)

Did dispatch initially provide you with information?

Yes. What was that?

Alexandra Giampapa (2:44)

Dispatch said initially the reporting party stated that someone was in their house, unknown if they were still there.

The reporting party was in the bedroom with juveniles and then it was corrected to the juveniles are in the bedroom. Then it said garage door is open, female shop in the head.

SPEAKER_3 (3:06)

Did you ultimately respond to an address? Yes. For the nature of this call?

Alexandra Giampapa (3:10)

Yes.

SPEAKER_3 (3:10)

What was the address that you responded to?

Alexandra Giampapa (3:13)

932 Cunningham Court, Tipp City, Ohio.

SPEAKER_3 (3:16)

Is that in Mayley County?

Alexandra Giampapa (3:17)

Yes, it is.

SPEAKER_3 (3:18)

And when you arrived at the residence, was anyone else on scene?

Alexandra Giampapa (3:22)

Officer Blinkes and I both arrived at the same time. Sergeant Rhys Miller was out there a few, maybe 15 seconds, 30 seconds prior.

SPEAKER_3 (3:31)

When you first arrived, where did you go?

Alexandra Giampapa (3:34)

Initially, I drove down the wrong street when I got into the neighborhood. It's not a neighborhood that we get a lot of calls for service for.

Quickly did a U-turn, drove down Cunningham Court. Officer Blinkes and I identified the house, the address, and we went inside.

SPEAKER_3 (3:54)

When you get inside the residence, what happens?

Alexandra Giampapa (3:57)

What do you do? I walked inside the residence. I saw the defendant standing, squatting near the dining room table.

Almost at the same time, Sergeant Rhys Miller came walking out of the back bedroom related to us that the victim, Ashley, was deceased.

SPEAKER_3 (4:14)

When you say you saw the defendant, do you recognize him today in the courtroom?

Alexandra Giampapa (4:18)

Yes.

SPEAKER_3 (4:19)

Can you just write him through the court, please?

Alexandra Giampapa (4:21)

He's wearing a blue suit. He's a white male, white shirt, dark tie.

SPEAKER_3 (4:26)

Your Honor, could the record reflect the defendant's tonight in the fight?

Alexandra Giampapa (4:29)

Let the record reflect that this witness has identified the defendant here in the courtroom.
