**Hammer** (0:00)
Nigel, take me down memory lane. Where was the Burger King you worked at?
**Nigel** (0:07)
My first job?
**Hammer** (0:08)
Yes.
**Nigel** (0:10)
Brownsburg, Indiana, right off 74, right off the interstate, right off I-74. I loved it. One of the one of the greatest times I've ever had. My first job as a whopper flopper, learned every nuance, learned every aspect of Burger King, whether it was the drive thru, the front, you know, taking people's orders, cooking, cooking in the back. I learned everything. I loved it. It was great. I had a bunch of friends that worked there. Why?
**Hammer** (0:41)
Allison, will you ever at any point in your life call Nigel the whopper flopper? I wouldn't know. Was that an official title of yours?
**Nigel** (0:50)
Uh, not an official title, but I mean, that's what Mrs. Nige calls him from time to time. The old whopper floppers back in action had too many beers, huh? Whopper flopper.
**Hammer** (1:00)
All right.
**Nigel** (1:01)
Yeah.
**Hammer** (1:02)
The reason I ask is that Burger King, according to a new report, cannot call itself Burger King in Australia because there's a small restaurant that bought the trademark before Burger King in Australia was able to get all of the licensing. So all of the Australia locations are called Hungry Jacks.
**Nigel** (1:25)
Of course they are.
**Hammer** (1:27)
So if you see a Hungry Jacks in Australia, that's a Burger King. Here's a commercial for a burger that I think we all know pretty well.
**SPEAKER_3** (1:37)
But with Hungry Jacks in the middle, there's nothing more mouthwatering than a Hungry Jacks flame grilled whopper. But hey, how's this for an idea?
Now you can get a whopper with a mild chili sauce.
**Nigel** (2:04)
That's so weird. The Hungry Jacks.
**Hammer** (2:09)
Hungry Jacks?
**Nigel** (2:10)
No thanks.
**Hammer** (2:11)
Now in this country, there are the same type of restaurants that have different names.
Yeah, Hardee's and Carl's Junior, same place. Now, I don't know if it's the same restaurant or not, but it's the same business model. You've got White Castle, and then there's another version called Crystals. Crystals are predominantly in the south.
**Nigel** (2:36)
Is it the same thing, though?
**Hammer** (2:38)
It's a different design. It's a different building. You know, like, Crystals are like red and white. As to where White Castle is blue and white.
**Nigel** (2:47)
OK.
**Hammer** (2:48)
They may be different companies, but it might as well be the exact same thing.
Small little square burgers loaded with onions, sliders. Same menu.
**Nigel** (2:59)
I'll never forget working at Burger King, and somebody comes over the drive thru, and I was working in back. I was working as a whopper flopper. I was manning the grill, and they ordered extra pickles. And so I thought I was going to be a smart ass. I just shoved my hand. My entire hand and got a heaping pile of pickles on the whopper.
Just shoved it on there, wrapped it up. I thought for sure. As soon as it went out, I thought, oh, that probably wasn't a good idea.
**Hammer** (3:29)
Did you have any gloves on?
**Nigel** (3:30)
I had gloves on. Yeah, I had gloves on.
**Hammer** (3:33)
Okay.
**Nigel** (3:33)
I had gloves on, but I just it was an absurd amount. Even though they ordered extra pickles, it was obviously, it was obvious.
**Hammer** (3:41)
It wasn't a handful.
**Nigel** (3:43)
You got to be kidding me, right? Nobody said anything. Nobody came back to complain.
**Hammer** (3:48)
Maybe they enjoyed it.
**Nigel** (3:49)
I worried for nothing.
**Hammer** (3:50)
Maybe they enjoyed it. How much free food did you take home?
**Nigel** (3:54)
All the time. They let us. It was fine.
**Hammer** (3:59)
It's part of the perk of working there, right?
**Nigel** (4:01)
Yeah, exactly.
**Hammer** (4:02)
Wasn't that always the worst? Like because I worked at Steak and Shake and like most managers were like, make yourself something to eat, take it home. That's fine.
**Nigel** (4:10)
Sure.
**Hammer** (4:10)
But every once in a while, you'd get Johnny Tough Guy. You're going to have to pay for that with an employee discount. Dude, I've been working here for eight hours. I'm covered in milkshake batter. I'm taking a Frisco melt home. You jag off.
**Nigel** (4:22)
I showed up at 430 in the morning to open the store. I'm eating a chicken sandwich at 8 a.m. I don't care what you say.
**Hammer** (4:29)
Right. It's The Hammer and Nigel Show.
