Guy Relford's here for Big Nige. Let's do a little booze news.

You set him up and I'll knock him back, Lloyd.

Guy Relford (0:08)

One for one. Time for Booze News.

SPEAKER_1 (0:26)

A New York man was arrested in Florida after deputies say he struck another vehicle with his truck, drove away from the crash scene, and was later spotted drifting between lanes on a nearby road.

Of course, he failed the sobriety tests, struggled to tie his own shoes. Here is Darius talking to the officers, because thankfully for us, it was all recorded on the body cam. Would you like to tie your shoes first?

SPEAKER_3 (0:56)

No.

Are we going to fall over? No, you are not. We might have to go be this.

SPEAKER_1 (1:07)

Sorry.

Guy Relford (1:08)

I'm going to take you to jail for DUI.

SPEAKER_3 (1:10)

Yeah.

SPEAKER_1 (1:10)

Yeah. It's never good when the officer that's about to arrest you goes, are we about to fall over?

Guy Relford (1:19)

No.

No, that's never good. Although, you know, I mean, clearly this guy, especially after having crashed his car, probably damaged other vehicles, drove away, you know, was obviously intoxicated. Yeah, that's the guy that needs to go to jail. Having said that, I am worried, especially as I get older, when you look at the standard sobriety test that they put you through, the field sobriety test, they put you through on the side of the road. I want to know what percentage of the US population could pass those dead sober. I mean, 100% sober. You know, stand on one foot and, you know, extend your arms and touch your nose and, you know, recite the alphabet backward. And I mean, there's so many of these things. As I get older, my knees get worse. I'm really wondering about these field sobriety tests and how many people could really pass those, even having nothing whatsoever of an intoxicating nature in their system.

SPEAKER_1 (2:13)

All right. We need a police officer to reach out to us here at the Hammer and Nigel Show and put us through the test. Like, just give me a heads up so I'm sober when we do it, because I want to see if a sober person at our age, because like you, Guy, you're a little bit older than I am.

Guy Relford (2:31)

Not a lot.

SPEAKER_1 (2:32)

But we each played football. I was a catcher in baseball. My knees are crap. My shoulders are crap. My back's bad. I wonder if I could pass the damn thing.

Guy Relford (2:41)

You know what?

I would love to see that schedule. I don't actually want to participate. I just want to watch it. But it needs to not be on Beer Sample Friday, just for the record.

SPEAKER_1 (2:49)

I just need a heads up to make sure that I'm sober. That's all that I'm asking for. That's it.

Do not go anywhere.

Guy Relford (2:57)

That'd be a great headline. Radio host arrested after stunt on radio.

SPEAKER_1 (3:01)

He volunteered for a test that he failed.
