How about a little booze news? You set them up and I'll knock them back, Lloyd. One for one.
**Brian Alvey** (0:12)
Once it hits your lips, it's so good.
**Nigel** (0:23)
My name is Nigel, Hammer is out, Brian Alvey, military badass, Yes, all-around, damn fine American filling in.
Now, you've worked in the bar industry before. You've owned, bought, and sold bars before. It's going to disturb you to know that a major new study said they found zero evidence that any amount of drinking improves your health. It's quite the opposite. Even a moderate amount of drinking carries big risks. I see these kinds of studies every single week. One says, oh, two glasses of wine a night, that's fine for your heart. That's actually good for you. And then the next day, a study like this will come out and say that men who drink around two alcoholic beverages a day face a 4% lifetime risk of dying from alcohol-related illness or injury. Now that's for the dudes, Brian. Now for the women, the study found that they face a greater risk of liver disease than men at similar drinking levels. So based on these findings, the authors and the scientists and the doctors are recommending limiting alcohol intake to no more than one drink per day for both men and women. We've got about 60 seconds left here.
How do you feel about these kinds of studies? Because I feel like everything in moderation fine. And if you go overboard once in a while, I should have been dead at 22 Yeah.
**Brian Alvey** (1:52)
My response is, so what? I don't care.
**Nigel** (1:55)
You know, you have a different perspective.
**Brian Alvey** (1:57)
This life, life is this funny thing about life. None of us are getting out of it alive. I mean, so quality of. Oh, so you listen. You lived at 90, but your last 20 years were miserable, but you lived to 70 and your life was awesome.
**Nigel** (2:09)
I get it. If you have a severe problem in debilitating your health, that's one thing. Yeah, stop drinking. But if you are able to control it and enjoy it and have one or two a night, that's fine. And I don't know about these studies. Four percent lifetime risk of dying from alcohol related illness.
Four percent lifetime.
**Brian Alvey** (2:30)
I go with the 96 percent of awesomeness.
**Nigel** (2:33)
You're going to go with 96 percent awesomeness? Awesome sauce.
