Nick and Luttsy have both had the chance to host many TV shows, unfortunately none of them ever saw the light of day after being axed before premiering them. The media landscape has changed significantly in the past 20 years - we wonder what the next 20 years will look like?

The Nick, Luttsy & Susie O'Neill Podcast.
Welcome everyone to the Bonus Podcast. Your hosts, Nick, Luttsy and Susie O'Neill.

**David Lutteral** (0:13)
Have you ever hosted a game show, Nick?

**Kip Wightman** (0:16)
Yeah, I hosted a kids' sports show. Yeah. Called Smashdown on Channel 9 It was on Nine Go.

**David Lutteral** (0:21)
Okay.

**Kip Wightman** (0:22)
It was like literally kids' sports game show. They do quizzes, they compete in mazes and stuff like that at the studio. We filmed a hundred episodes at Mount Coutha there.

**David Lutteral** (0:29)
Oh yeah?

**Kip Wightman** (0:29)
In like six months.

**David Lutteral** (0:31)
Really? How old were you when you did that?

**Kip Wightman** (0:33)
Well, still just when I left here the second time. So I was still, I'd have been like 27

**David Lutteral** (0:38)
Oh, pretty old.

**Kip Wightman** (0:39)
Yeah, 27, 26

**David Lutteral** (0:40)
Was it fun to film?

**Kip Wightman** (0:41)
It was fun. It's pretty taxing though, because I'd also have to go out to the sports fields where all the kids would do that. And so you have to do packages that they'd cross to in the game show. Like I went out and train with the Barton Buffalo Soccer Club, and it would cut to me with kids on a soccer night.

**Ash Bradnam** (0:56)
F*** me.

**Kip Wightman** (0:57)
That was the hardest part, because I had to go to hockey, ice skating, roller derby. I got an injury, I picked up a hamstring injury doing sprints and then I had to continue doing it.

**Ash Bradnam** (1:09)
That's a lot.

**David Lutteral** (1:10)
But as for filming the game show, you don't get nervous doing that stuff, do you?

**Kip Wightman** (1:14)
No, that was fun. It was like live studio, like five cameras at once, and I filmed it all like it was live.

**David Lutteral** (1:18)
Okay. How much crew around?

**Kip Wightman** (1:20)
Geez, I would have had 20 or 30 Like there was a fair few. There was four cameras, camera operators.

**David Lutteral** (1:25)
That's a lot. Yeah.

**Kip Wightman** (1:27)
It doesn't exist anymore, does it? Locally. And this was literally only 2018, 2019
Okay. And then the whole kids department got cut in COVID.

**David Lutteral** (1:37)
Oh, really?

**Kip Wightman** (1:38)
Yeah.

**Ash Bradnam** (1:38)
Yeah, the whole department did. So there was no kids television came out of here anymore.

**David Lutteral** (1:42)
Because we used to have heaps of good kids TV from Brisbane. At the Logies, they had a presentation.
Well, two people were presenting an award, Anne-Marie Bigger and Ranger Stacey. And they had aggro in the background.

**Kip Wightman** (1:54)
So I was super close to being on...

**David Lutteral** (1:58)
Wombat.

**Kip Wightman** (1:58)
No, Ranger Stacey on. Totally wild.

**David Lutteral** (2:00)
Totally wild. Oh, really? Yeah.

**Kip Wightman** (2:02)
Yeah. I had like a few auditions with them.

**David Lutteral** (2:03)
I got interviewed by them. They were a good show.

**Ash Bradnam** (2:05)
Wes Denning was on that, I think.

**David Lutteral** (2:11)
Yeah, yeah.

**Ash Bradnam** (2:12)
He's a good guy.

**David Lutteral** (2:13)
How do I know him? He's also, he was out swimming trying to do some stuff with swimming.

**Ash Bradnam** (2:17)
Yes.

**Kip Wightman** (2:17)
But there was so much more opportunity back in the day, like shows to be on, be involved in, you know.

**Ash Bradnam** (2:23)
This is a sob story. We had two shows going, me and my old mate Ashley.

**Kip Wightman** (2:28)
Yeah.

**Ash Bradnam** (2:30)
And one was on the comedy channel, The Man Show.

**David Lutteral** (2:34)
The Man Show?

**Kip Wightman** (2:34)
I didn't hear about this one.

**Ash Bradnam** (2:35)
It was an American show that Jimmy, the right holders were Adam Carrera, and Jimmy Kimmel.

**Kip Wightman** (2:44)
Oh yeah, Jimmy Kimmel.

**Ash Bradnam** (2:45)
They owned the rights to The Man Show.
And they picked me and Ash to host the Australian version. It was a pretty out there show. It wouldn't cut it now. It was like Juggie Girls, girls in bikinis jumping on trampolines.

**Kip Wightman** (2:57)
Well, it's called The Man Show.

**Ash Bradnam** (2:59)
Yeah, it was out there. And they booked the Judith Wright Center to do live shows. They booked the Juggie Girls.
Everything was ready to go. And then at the same time, we had a Channel 9 show called A Question of Sport, a sport trivia show that we were hosting up at Channel 9, Mount Coot-tha, same as your deal.
And of course, we told everyone, as you do, I'm about to host that two TV shows, I'm gonna be a superstar. Within 48 hours, Channel 9 got some redundancies, stopped all their live production, same as that. Gone! Two days later, Jimmy Kimmel went, no, we're not giving you The Rights of the Man Show for $40,000 now, it's $400,000.
