Hello, welcome to Haman Nature. I am Adam Haman. That fellow right there is my buddy Tyrone. He's a porcupine. He's a hobo. He's a hobo porcupine. How you doing, man?
Oh, I see what's going on here. You look a little, you're looking like you're sloshing around a little bit, like you're a little unsteady on your feet.
Tyrone (0:25)
You know, I'm just getting my sea legs, getting my sea legs under me here. Adam, I got to put some drama mean on for this episode. You know what I mean?
Adam Haman (0:38)
That's right, because, yeah, because, well, I see what you're doing there. I was just on the Tom Woods Cruise, and it's a myth, by the way. Those boats are so big anymore. You hardly feel anything.
Tyrone (0:53)
Yeah, the Tom Woods Cruise. So, not only was this just another Tom Woods Cruise, because we did an episode way back when, recapping another of the Tom Woods cruises you went on. But this one, rumor has it, is it. The final, last one. So folks, if you didn't go, you missed out. But never fear, Haman Nature is here to at least give you the recap so you can live vicariously through it. Now, I myself didn't go on it, but old Mr. Adam Haman here sure did.
Now, Adam, I think you've been on every single one of them.
Adam Haman (1:35)
Yeah, this whole thing started in 2016
Bob Murphy and Tom Woods had a little show called Contra Krugman, where every week they would do a podcast just breaking down how stupid Paul Krugman's New York Times article was. And because they're marketing geniuses, they said, hey, let's do a cruise and invite goofy people like... Anyway, I've been on all of those, or four of those, 2016 to 2019 It was supposed to be one 2020, but the government went and ruined it by overreacting to a biological weapon paid for by the American government and manufactured in Wuhan, China, or something like that. Anyway...
Tyrone (2:20)
I hadn't heard that. I must have slept through that.
Adam Haman (2:24)
Yeah, you never heard of such a thing. And so then Tom picked it back up again on his own brand in 2025 and did one. Then he did one this year. We're about to tell you all about it, but there's gonna be no more. Tom's not doing it anymore. So there'll be no more cruising.
Tyrone (2:38)
This is the fifth or sixth one?
Adam Haman (2:41)
How many? This was the sixth of these branded cruises I've been on. I'm a sicko.
Back when I was an early poker player, I used to go on the card player cruises. It's a similar dynamic, except they take one of the big rooms of the ship and to take everything out of it and just put a bunch of poker tables in there. So while you were at sea, we could all be degenerate gamblers. So I've been on a ton of cruises.
Tyrone (3:05)
I've got a question about that. I'm totally gonna derail this whole episode. First of all, first thing I want to say is thank you folks for being a paid subscriber. This is a bonus episode just for you.
Adam Haman (3:15)
Yes.
Tyrone (3:17)
So if you're not a paid subscriber and you're seeing the first part of this, because we always send out to anyone who subscribes to our newsletter, you always get a little chunk of the episode that we put behind the paywall. Obviously, it hopefully incentivize you to convert over.
Adam Haman (3:34)
But we're supposed to be attractive and alluring and saying things that are smart and funny, such that people would want to have FOMO overmissing the rest of it. That's what we were going for this whole time?
Tyrone (3:45)
I guess so.
Adam Haman (3:46)
I don't know.
Tyrone (3:47)
We're not good at marketing. I don't know.
Thank you for being a subscriber. Really appreciate it. Whether you're a free subscriber or paid subscriber, it means a lot. And hope you get to enjoy this little behind the scenes thing of the cruise on the very final Tom Woods Cruise. I will assume that all of our viewers know who Tom Woods is, but who is this guy? Some sort of clown?
Adam Haman (4:14)
Yeah, he's some sort of a clown. He went to Harvard like a loser. Loser.
Tyrone (4:20)
I went to St. Cloud State. Go Huskies.
Adam Haman (4:24)
I'm sure there's an accent you're supposed to come in with. Oh yeah.
Tyrone (4:28)
I'm supposed to go, oh yeah, go Huskies.
Adam Haman (4:32)
So yeah, Tom's a historian who then turned into the most famous libertarian ever and a podcaster and a writer. He's written a bunch of books. He's put on a bunch of cruises. And the line I always tell him is that you've done a lot of things, Tom. A lot of very important, impressive things. But the greatest thing you've ever done, including have six beautiful children, is do these cruises because they're amazing.
