Hello, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to another episode of the Absolutely Not podcast. I'm your host, Heather McMahan, and this podcast is where we do the most and the least at the same damn time. Now, let's get into the show.
Hello, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to another episode of the Absolutely Not podcast. I'm your host, Heather McMahan. How are you? Hope you're doing fantastic. A little bonus episode for a happy fall Friday. We're gonna be doing a lot more bonus episodes through the end of the year. Keep you on your toes, throw more shit at you. You know, you didn't know that you needed more of me in your life, but apparently you do. I apologize in advance. We are in the new studio. We are still working out the kinks, you know. I appreciate your patience. We realize that we have to change out the desk that we're currently using. It is a beautiful Burlwood desk, but if you're watching this on YouTube, it is reflecting hot neon orange up underneath my chin, which I aggressively and expensively spent a lot of time and effort to try and remove. So there's just a couple of things that we are working on to try and fix the kinks. We're going to get new microphones, all the things. But I really appreciate you guys being so sweet about the feedback. You know, we put up a new photo. We've got a new thumbnail for the face of the podcast. I did not want to do that, but they said, you know what, Heather, when people are scrolling through Apple iTunes, they don't want to get confused with a cartoon. I'm like, but I've had the cartoon since the beginning. I'm cartoonish. There's other people who have cartoons as their avatars. And they're like, we need your face. And I said, no one needs to see my face more than it is. Now I will say, I was fucking dying. Some woman messaged me last night. I got this message, absolutely crying. Said, hey Heather, I love you. And I believe you deserve bouquets of flowers because you're so fucking hilarious. But from a marketing and branding perspective, Dear Media did you dirty with your new podcast intro. It reads boomer and inauthentic and it doesn't give the authentic pizzazz that is Heather McMahan.
So I appreciate Amanda, your feedback on that. I do want you to know, I picked out that song. You know, I had 30 seconds to spare in my day and they're like, we need a new jingle up top. I love the feedback. I had a lot of folks saying they were upset with the new colors of the studio. They were happy. They were upset with the avatar. They were pissed about this, like that. I can't please everybody. And right now, I'm just trying to keep my job. But I just wanted to say something real quick. And I have been asking you guys, like, what do you want me to talk about? What is on your heart? What do we want to giggle about? Because the world is pretty grim and gray right now. And I have had so many people DM me saying, hey, Heather, why aren't you talking about this crime case? Why aren't you talking about this case? Why aren't you talking about that? And I just want to say something real quick. If you look at the top of the iTunes charts for podcasting, there's always true crime junkies, you know, New York Times, News. You're gonna have a lot of people who are professional journalists, attorneys, litigators, you know, folks who are journalists who actually know what the fuck they're talking about, breaking a lot of those cases down. I mean, I had so many people like, why aren't you speaking on Lindsay Clancy? I said, because it's really fucking dark and I have none of the answers. And I just want to remind us, you know where I stand politically, you know where I stand emotionally, spiritually, mentally. I am always rooting for the underdog and I will always stand for injustice. My thing is though, guys, please, can we just let this be funny? And we have tender moments and we have serious moments and we will talk about the things that are important. Of course, we always will. You know, I will always speak up on something, but I cannot solve every crime. Okay, I cannot solve it. I know that makes you upset. I do not, I live three minutes from Nancy Grace already. And every time I open my phone and she's got those eyes, you know, this just in, it's between her and Erin Parnass, I'm not doing well. Okay, I'm doing the best I can. Like she's in my backyard. You gotta help me, help me take a break. I cannot solve every crime.
