Today is September 29th. Welcome in. This is New York Rangers News Today, where your team meets AI. I'm Corey with the story.

All right, so the new hockey season is officially here, and it's time to break down some bold fantasy predictions. Let's dive into what's shaping up for the 2026 to 2027 season, and what that means for your fantasy lineup.

First up, Igor Shesterkin of the New York Rangers is set to win the Vezina Trophy. Last season, despite the Rangers struggling, he still managed a solid record with a 2.5 goals. Against average, with new defensemen joins like Marcus Pedersen and Sean Dursey, I'd expect a breakout year for him. That's a big one. Then there's Alex Ovechkin, who might struggle to reach 30 goals this season. At 41 years old, he's still the all-time leader in goals, but the Capitals new additions could see him take a step back in production. Gotta watch that for sure.

Meanwhile, Jesper Wallstedt looks ready to take over the top goal-tending spot for the Minnesota Wild. With Philip Gustafson out after surgery, it puts Wallstedt in prime position after a solid regular season. That kind of opportunity is huge. Finally, keep an eye on Roman Kantserov from the Chicago Blackhawks. He led the KHL in goals last season and is stepping into a roster that needs fresh talent. I expect big things from him right out of the gate. So those are some hot takes to keep in mind as the season kicks off.

It will be interesting to see how these predictions pan out.
