Hey, Beauty Brains fans, this is Perry, and I want to apologize for not getting a show out last week.

Valerie is moving to Texas, and I am traveling, so we haven't been able to connect. We will have a new show out in a week, but until then, enjoy this best of episode.

Valerie George (0:21)

Hi, I'm Valerie, and you're listening to The Beauty Brains.

Welcome to The Beauty Brains, a show where real cosmetic chemists answer your beauty product questions and give you an insider's look at the cosmetic industry. This is episode 313 I'm your host, Valerie George, and with me today is Perry Romanofsky. Hi Perry.

Perry Romanofsky (0:47)

Hello Valerie, good catch on that 12 and 13

Valerie George (0:52)

Yeah, we are really racking up the episodes, and guess what?

Perry Romanofsky (0:55)

What's that?

Valerie George (0:55)

In just two episodes, it will be my 150th episode with you.

Perry Romanofsky (1:00)

Oh wow, can't wait.

Valerie George (1:01)

Can you believe it?

Perry Romanofsky (1:03)

Yeah, that's amazing. How many beauty podcast shows have that many episodes?

Valerie George (1:09)

Yeah, even just 150 And in 17 episodes, which hopefully we'll get to before the year is out, I will have done as many episodes as Randy.

Perry Romanofsky (1:19)

Oh, nice. We'll have a big celebration.

Valerie George (1:23)

We sure will. Well, on today's show, we're going to celebrate a few questions we have, including what is an aqueous cream?

Is the Ordinary Vitamin C trustworthy? Magical Sunbeam I'm Cream? What about it? And we have a frizzy hair question, but first, inane chit chat. But first, our inane chit chat.

Perry Romanofsky (1:43)

Valerie, I heard there was an election, and I didn't vote for you, but only because you're not in my area. So what is this election that you were part of?

Valerie George (1:53)

Well, I was just informed. I won the title of Area 3 Director, which someone nominated me to run, and called me in. Well, you kind of self-nominated, but someone called me and said, hey, I really would love it if you ran. I think you're a good candidate.

And I was like, wow, I never really considered it. And so I ran and I won. And Area Director is kind of like, how would you describe this role, Perry?

Perry Romanofsky (2:19)

Well, you're on the board of directors for a variety, for a big segment of the United States. And we should point out this is of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists, the US. National Branch. I guess it's North America, right? Except not Mexico, so Canada and US.

Valerie George (2:35)

Yeah. And basically in my area, Area 3, we have the California chapter, Intermountain West chapter and the Southwest chapter.

Perry Romanofsky (2:45)

Well, that's a big amount of land. If you don't know the United States, that's a lot of land.

Valerie George (2:51)

Yeah. So I'm super excited to get more involved with the chapters and just see where this takes me.

Perry Romanofsky (2:58)

Well, that is a lot of fun. Almost as much fun as having kittens in your basement.

Valerie George (3:03)

How are they doing? Did you capture more?

Perry Romanofsky (3:06)

I captured a total of four of the six kittens, and one of them I placed with somebody. The other three I've been having in my basement for the last two plus weeks trying to socialize them.

Stray cats that you find outside, even kittens, they don't like people, it turns out. You got to teach them to like people.

Valerie George (3:27)

Domesticated cats don't like people.

Perry Romanofsky (3:30)

Right.

Valerie George (3:31)

Well, they secretly do.

Perry Romanofsky (3:32)

Yeah. Well, yeah, they do like the food. So we're making some progress. They don't run away from me and try to scratch my eyes out when I pick them up anymore. So that's good.

Valerie George (3:41)

Oh, good. And how close are you to getting the other two kitties?

Perry Romanofsky (3:46)

They were here at my house yesterday, and I almost got them, but they're too quick and I don't have the trap anymore. So I got to get the trap back. So it'll take a little time.

Valerie George (3:57)

Yeah.

And speaking of Intermountain West chapter, I mentioned that a second ago. I actually am in Utah as we speak. Have you been here?

Perry Romanofsky (4:04)

I have been to Utah, and I've actually spoken there a bit ago, but I go there frequently for skiing in the wintertime.

Valerie George (4:11)

Oh, cool. Oh, I forgot you were a skier. That's right. The old lip balm in your ski jacket.
