It's October 17th. Alright, so big win for The Columbus Blue Jackets last night. They took down the New York Rangers 1-0 in overtime, thanks to Kent Johnson scoring with just 1 minute and 33 seconds left on the clock. That's a nice way to break a two-game slide. Charlie Coyle set that play up perfectly, passing to Zach Werenski, who found Johnson in the slot for a quick wrist shot. That's Johnson's team-leading fourth goal of the season. And you gotta love that teamwork, right?

By the way, this game was a milestone for Werenski too. With that assist, he logged his 22nd career overtime point, passing Seth Jones for the most in franchise history. That kind of playmaking is huge for the team.

On the defensive end, Jet Greaves came up clutch with his fifth career shutout, stopping 29 shots. It's been a minute since his last shutout in February against Chicago, so he's definitely feeling good. Greaves is proving his worth in net. Looking ahead, the Rangers will host the Anaheim Ducks on Monday, while the Blue Jackets are headed to face the Minnesota Wild on Sunday.

Both teams are in need of a momentum swing, so it should be interesting to see how that plays out. Stay locked in with New York Rangers News Today, AI powered updates. I'm Corey with the story. This has been Teen News Today powered by AI.
