Okay, our friends, so today, we are going to read a book for you if you are a hero, a big hero, a little hero, any kind of hero, because we've done a lot of Marvel superhero stories, but we haven't done a lot of DC, that's the other comic book people.

**SPEAKER_2** (0:22)
And so today we're going to do that.

**Lisa Bueno** (0:23)
It's a golden book, a little golden book called DC Super Friends, Big Heroes. And this story was written by Billy Rex, and it's illustrated by Dan Schoening, and it's read today by Mommy and...

**SPEAKER_3** (0:40)
Philip.

**SPEAKER_2** (0:41)
Philip.

**Lisa Bueno** (0:41)
So buckle up, you guys, it's superhero day.
Trouble comes in many shapes and sizes, but no trouble is too big for the world's mightiest heroes. When The Flash, Aquaman, Green Lantern, Superman and Batman unite to save the day, they are known as the Super Friends. And we can see them in the pictures.

**Philip** (1:08)
Aquaman is lifting some water.

**Lisa Bueno** (1:11)
The Flash is running as fast as he can.

**Philip** (1:13)
He's rescuing someone.

**Lisa Bueno** (1:15)
It looks like a great big meteor is approaching the earth, and Green Lantern has made a green baseball bat to whack it back.

**Philip** (1:24)
And then another one has come, but Superman has flown up and punched it into smithereens. And even Batman is rescuing a baby.

**Lisa Bueno** (1:35)
After the Super Friends saved Metropolis once again, the city thanked them with a loud cheer, but one person was not cheering.

**SPEAKER_3** (1:46)
Lex Luthor.
My greatest invention will bring those Super Friends down to size. The villain grumbled in his secret laboratory.

**SPEAKER_5** (1:58)
I'm going to zap them with my shrink ray, he says, and he does.

**Lisa Bueno** (2:05)
And the Super Friends we can see go from being normal sized superheroes to teensy weensy little tiny ones.

**SPEAKER_3** (2:13)
Now nothing will stop me from taking over my Tripolis.

**Philip** (2:18)
Lex shouted.

**Lisa Bueno** (2:20)
The colossal criminal took a deep breath and blew the shrunken Super Friends away.

**SPEAKER_2** (2:27)
First he shrunk them, then he blew them away.

**Philip** (2:30)
What a monster. Yeah, they look, they're really super tiny.

**SPEAKER_3** (2:34)
We're the size of ants.

**Lisa Bueno** (2:37)
Batman said, do you like my Batman voice?
But we can still stop Lex, Superman declared. Only the flash noticed the dark shadow looming over their heads. Suddenly, an enormous praying mantis grabbed Superman and its spiky claws.

**SPEAKER_2** (2:58)
The Super Friends began to battle the insect.

**Lisa Bueno** (3:01)
We need a little help from what Mother Nature's other creatures, Batman said. He threw himself against a spider's web, causing the silky strands to vibrate.
A hairy spider scurried down the web and attacked the praying mantis. As the two creepy crawlies clashed, the Super Friends dashed away.

**Philip** (3:29)
Not a bad choice.

**Lisa Bueno** (3:30)
Get away from there.

**SPEAKER_2** (3:31)
Unfortunately, the Flash ran right into a hungry Venus flytrap.

**Philip** (3:37)
Oh no, watch out, they're carnivorous.

**Lisa Bueno** (3:40)
The plant's prickly jaws snapped shut, trapping the Flash.
Superman used his incredible strength to open the plant's thorny mouth. Batman swung in on his bat rope to free the Flash. Thanks, the Flash said.

**SPEAKER_2** (4:04)
For a second, I thought I was gonna be fast food.

**Lisa Bueno** (4:08)
Then it started to rain. Uh oh, Green Lantern and Aquaman were swept away in a trickle of water, which was like a raging river to the tiny heroes.

**SPEAKER_5** (4:22)
Now, wouldn't you think Aquaman could control that raging river?

**Philip** (4:26)
Let's see what happens.

**Lisa Bueno** (4:27)
Uh huh, as Aquaman tumbled under the water, he called out to a nearby turtle.

**Philip** (4:33)
It gave him a ride to solid ground.

**Lisa Bueno** (4:37)
Yep, there it is, he came through.

**Philip** (4:39)
The other super friends dodged raindrops as they raced to catch up with Aquaman.

**Lisa Bueno** (4:45)
Green Lantern created a submarine with his power ring to escape the rough water.
Let's go get Lex Luthor, Superman said, as all the super friends arrived safely on the scene. The shrunken heroes dodged speeding cars, barking dogs, sticky fingers, and big boots until they found Lex.

**SPEAKER_3** (5:15)
I am the king of Metropolis, he says.

**SPEAKER_2** (5:19)
And it looks like, does he have, has he used the shrink ray on someone else?

**Philip** (5:23)
It looks like he's got somebody like in a jar or something.

**Lisa Bueno** (5:28)
Yep, Lex didn't notice a hornet's nest hanging over his head, but these super friends did. Superman used his heat vision to cut the nest loose, and it fell right into Lex's lap.
