The Glenn Beck Program

September 11, 2026

25 years ago, Muslim terrorists attacked America by hijacking airplanes and crashing into the Twin Towers, the Pentagon, and almost hitting Washington, DC. Glenn was live on air in Florida, and he plays audio from that show as he watched that tragic day unfold.

Speakers Glenn Beck, Danny Burmawi, Frank Turek

It's 9-11, there's a lot to talk about. You don't want to miss a second of this, here's the best of.

SPEAKER_2 (0:17)

You're listening to the best of The Glenn Beck Program.

Glenn Beck (0:25)

Okay, what do we have for these cuts? What are these cuts? Sorry, we just got them turned around.

SPEAKER_3 (0:32)

Your first cut is when you were reading the quotes of the day, starting with Mayor Rudy Giuliani.

Glenn Beck (0:38)

Okay, so this is 5 o'clock, the news just ends, we're doing news, national news from ABC is, I think it's even before Fox. ABC News is doing every 15 minutes news reports. And the news is, it's a fire hose of news. You cannot keep up with it. So now we have been following this all day long. And I had just been writing down quotes that I had heard from people during the day. What were people all around America saying? And at 5 o'clock, I looked at that list of quotes and I thought, that's the news.

Listen to what America is saying.

SPEAKER_4 (1:24)

New York City Mayor, Rudolph Giuliani. I have a sense it's a horrible and horrendous number of lives lost.

My mother is going crazy. I hope my brother's all right. He's my out of work partner. It's my hangout partner. I'm just in shock. Edwin Cruz, 34, whose brother Richard works in the World Trade Center. Every single American, no matter where you live, the whole country's on edge. Linda Wilson, 42, Denver. I heard a boom. People were jumping off buildings everywhere. They were just jumping. Serena Mays, construction worker, Williamsburg Bridge, New York. Everyone was screaming and crying and running, cops, people, firefighters, everyone. It's like a war zone. New York Fire Marshal, Mike Smith. It's just sick. It shows how vulnerable we really are. Keith Meyers, 39

It looked like a ticker tape parade. It wasn't paper. There were parts of the building floating down in the dust. Matthew Low, 29, Manhattan. I just can't believe what's happened. My God, my heart goes out to all of these people. I just hope that there is justice. Martha Ridley, whose daughter died April 1995 in Oklahoma.

I just saw my Two Towers fall. I'm devastated beyond belief. In many respects, this is significantly worse than Pearl Harbor. We just don't know who the enemy is. Lewis Heisenberg, Chairman of the Port Authority New York, which operates the World Trade Center.

It's so scary. It could happen to us. They could hit all the major cities at this point. How would we know? Christine Itch, 39, Columbus.

Whatever the lowest floors of the fire was, they were just jumping from them. I guess it was their choice. Burn to death or jump?

This is the second Pearl Harbor. I don't think I've overstated it. Senator Chuck Hagel, Nebraska.

All of a sudden, there were people screaming. I just saw people jumping out of buildings. Their arms, their arms waving. I stopped taking pictures, and I started crying. Michael Walters, freelance photojournalist, Manhattan.

Join me in prayer. George W. Bush.

Glenn Beck (5:47)

We were so innocent. We had no idea what was going on.

This is like Pearl Harbor. We just don't know who the enemy is. Here we are 25 years later. We know who the enemy is, but we refuse to say it, and we refuse to teach it. And so our children don't know who the enemy is. Who did that to us?

That was the day I learned how fragile freedom really is. You can abuse it every single day. You can spit on it. You can curse it. But it just seems to go on and on and on. And on that day, every American knew, my gosh, this could be over by tonight.

We had no idea. There were things that you just did not do in those days. One of those things is you did not do what I did next.

We're about 18 minutes away from World Trade Center No. 7 collapsing. I watched it live while I was on the air.

We thought at that time 50,000 people may have been killed. Turns out under 3,000, it was a miracle.

We're in the dark. We are lost.

Share the next part here in just a second. By the way, the entire broadcast delicately restored, so you can hear it is available now at glennbeck.com, the original Glenn Beck Program broadcast from 9-11, 2001 as it actually happened.

This is the best of The Glenn Beck Program.

You know, we traded our country. We have betrayed our country.

We have betrayed our values, our history, our principles, our grandparents, everything that anyone ever fought and died for in this country. They didn't fight and die for corruption in government or giant corporations. They all fought and died for an idea, an idea that was bigger and better than all of us. And honestly, the best idea ever to be uttered by a group of people putting together a country. We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal. No one else has a better system that is striving for a better idea than that. And if you can show me one, I will renounce my citizenship and join the next one. I cannot think of a higher ideal than what we are supposed to be striving for. But we've sold out. We've let our education, we can't tell you who even flew. Do you know why Iran is so important? Yeah, because they're going to have a nuke. Okay, all right. Well, then we can argue about the nukes. Well, they may not have a nuke. Did they even have a nuke? All of that crap that we've been hearing forever. Okay, I'm not going to give you that argument. Well, it's the oil. We need to have the oil. What a ridiculous, we're going to die? We're going to die for oil? When we have this much oil, what a ridiculous, that's true, we got bigger problems. That's not why we're doing it. You know why we're doing it? Because there's some human beings that are still awake enough to realize that it's the same damn crazy ideology. It's the same crazy theology in Iran that flew those planes into the buildings. It's the same evil. Now, are we going to man up and say enough? Look at what's happening to Europe. Look what's happening here in the country. I want to introduce you to Danny Burmawi. He's at ground zero right now. I read a story about his organization that PRWIRE would not release a... All PRWIRE is is they just do press releases. That's what they do. You have a company, you want to release something. They wouldn't release this because it's insensitive. He is the founder and CEO of the Ideological Defense Institute. All he's doing is saying, hey, maybe we should defend our Judeo-Christian principles in this country. Now, the reason why I wanted him on today, the story broke just a few minutes ago or a few hours ago. But more importantly, he's a former Muslim who when 9-11 happened, cheered, cheered as those towers came down, called American infidels. He is the guy now leading this organization saying, wake up, America, because he woke up. Danny, you're a brave man. Welcome to the program.
