So yeah, really strange game last night. Obviously, the Bears are wheeling out Case Keenum. Philly could not get anything done. Chicago, I feel like made a lot of mistakes. Philly couldn't capitalize on it. The one touchdown they scored was a little skeptical on a rush, kind of tush-push quarterback sneak.

Philly is your NFC Super Bowl pick. How are you feeling about that after this game?

Nick Wright (0:33)

Not great, and here is my single biggest takeaway from this game. I don't think anyone can disagree with it.

I think Eagle fans, as much as they want to be mad at me or dislike me, all will solemnly but grudgingly nod when I say this. The Chicago Bears dominated the Philadelphia Eagles last night, and if everything about that game, all the player, as far as player health, player availability, all of that were the same, but you flip-flopped the head coaches, the result would have been the exact opposite. That was on one side of the coin. He can be arrogant, he can be annoying, he can be grading. That was a coaching masterclass by Ben Johnson, taking nothing away from Case Keenum, but Case Keenum was a third-string, undersized project quarterback when I was doing radio in Houston, Demonse. Case Keenum, I watched Case Keenum as a backup quarterback playing an NFC championship game in person in Philadelphia for the Vikings nine years ago. Case Keenum is basically, he played awesome and he deserves a ton of credit and everyone loves him, but he has been an assistant coach that's just on the roster for three years now. He hadn't started in over a thousand days. He played great and he deserves credit for that. But Ben Johnson was the maestro behind that. And on the other hand, Nick Sirianni out to launch the entire game. That was a coaching disaster class by Sirianni. And I know what his win-loss record is, I know what his resume is, I picked him to go to the Super Bowl this year. That was, I'm going to tell you the moment that if I were Howie Roseman, I would have said to myself, I, man, I don't know what we do here.

So let's go, Demonsay, to the biggest moment of the game. Jalen Hurts running down the sideline, gets crushed, going out of bounds penalty.

Something on the penalty for a moment. Tough spot for the defender. That is called almost every time.

I am not, but he is in bounds when he got hit, but he was clearly going out of bounds. But go ahead, go.

SPEAKER_2 (3:32)

In the slow-mo, in live time, the quarterback, he's still running in bounds. And the quarterbacks like to do that, edging on the out of bounds. You're out of bounds, or you're running out of the field, and you met the defender, and you were too near.

Nick Wright (3:45)

I agree with you. Listen, I think that's an impossible spot for defenders, particularly because the two best quarterbacks in the league, Josh and Patrick, love running to the sideline and ducking back in. Love it. You know what I mean? So you've got to hit him. He was still in bounds, but it's 15 yards. And also, that is a penalty. End of Chiefs Colts in overtime. Daniel Jones got hit like that. It wasn't a penalty. Now again, he was in bounds when he got hit, just like Jalen was in bounds when he got hit. People don't like this. This is just, people make this a Mahomes thing. It's not a Mahomes thing. Mahomes benefits from it because it is a, how famous are you quarterback thing? Like the best six to eight quarterbacks in the league get, you know, an extra 25 to 50% of protection that other guys don't. Again, I'm not saying that's right, but that's how I've seen it. The hit that Daniel Jones took to end near the end of Colts Chiefs was not very different from the hit Jalen Hurts took. Jalen gets a penalty, the hit on Jalen gets penalized, hit on Daniel Jones doesn't. They were both in bounds. They were both still in bounds, going out of bounds, massive hit, you're going to get penalized. Okay, Jalen then, in my opinion, did something a lot of quarterbacks do. And you can say it's smart, but we're going to discuss this more in a second about the tax of it.

He played up how, like, he laid on the ground in extra five seconds. And he didn't know the flag had already been thrown, and quarterbacks do that sometimes to try to really sell the potential call.
