Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages, for those tuning in right now, grab a beverage, hold it high. It is Beer Sample Friday.
SPEAKER_2 (0:11)
Right now. Hammer and Nigel present.
SPEAKER_1 (0:14)
Beer Sample Friday.
I got some beers, let's drink them, huh? Beer's on sale, people. Come down, get you some. Brought to you by Thompson Furniture and Mattress in Columbus.
I'm telling you, the biggest selection of mattresses. I got a Tempur-Pedic mattress at home, guy. It's got the little remote control. I can go up, I can go down. There's a massage feature. When I want my ass to jiggle, I can hit a button. And it's awesome.
SPEAKER_2 (0:45)
Let me just pause on that thought for a minute.
SPEAKER_1 (0:47)
OK, it is time to officially kickstart the weekend. And man, what a weekend we've got in terms of like things to watch on television.
I know the weather is going to feel like fall, and some people are doing fall activities. My Saturday is lined up.
IU Ohio State at noon, Tennessee, Alabama at 330, Notre Dame BYU at 730 And if I've lost all my bets, I've got a late night Oregon UCLA game. You can always count on Hawaii playing later on. It's a full day, baby.
SPEAKER_2 (1:19)
It's a full day. I tell you, I am so nervous about this IU Ohio State game. I'm going to be rooting for your Vols because it's because I hate Alabama. Plus, I'll take it.
SPEAKER_1 (1:28)
I'll take it.
SPEAKER_2 (1:29)
I'm now I'm now a surrogate Vols fan just from being your friend.
It's a big day of football. I've got my show from five to seven. So I'm going to have to take a little time out from football and go do radio. But it's going to be a big day. And man, Ohio State and Indiana, what a huge game.
SPEAKER_1 (1:46)
That's going to be awesome. Hopefully, Bloomington is rocking and rolling. So let's get the weekend officially kickstarted here.
I wish I had a better story for this beer. But the real reality guy is we've been doing this for a long time. We're running out of beers.
SPEAKER_2 (2:03)
You're running out of new stuff.
SPEAKER_1 (2:04)
So I walked into the liquor store. This was one that was I think it's a Payless on Bradbury next to a subway, kind of near where the old airport area is.
And I just walked around until I saw something we haven't had yet. And I saw this bad boy. What do you got?
SPEAKER_2 (2:20)
I've got from St. Barnabas Brewery, a combine that's spelled with a K.
And this is an unfiltered helles. Now you and I had to Google what the hell an unfiltered helles is.
SPEAKER_1 (2:33)
It's helles good. That's what it is.
An unfiltered helles is a traditional German pale logger that skips the standard fine filtration or clarification phase before packaging. So basically, the brewers were like, it's good enough.
SPEAKER_2 (2:49)
It's good enough.
SPEAKER_1 (2:50)
It's fine.
SPEAKER_2 (2:50)
We're done.
SPEAKER_1 (2:51)
Quit being such a candy ass and drink it. That's basically what the brewers have said. But also, it's six percent alcohol by volume, which is a big deal.
SPEAKER_2 (3:00)
I mean, typical beers, what, four, four and a half. You see light beers down in the threes. So, yeah, this has got a little kick to it. What do you say? You want to check this bad boy out?
SPEAKER_1 (3:08)
Let's try it. St. Bartabas Combine from Nevada.
SPEAKER_2 (3:16)
OK, that's a thousand times better than I thought it was going to be.
SPEAKER_1 (3:18)
It's almost got like a little honey taste to it.
SPEAKER_2 (3:21)
It's got a little sweetness to it. It's nice and got a full body to it.
SPEAKER_1 (3:26)
Right.
SPEAKER_2 (3:26)
I totally like this. I would like this with food.
SPEAKER_1 (3:29)
Like I'm fighting a little bit of a little bit of a sore throat. Nothing too bad. But this feels like some medicine that I could put on this. At least that's what I'm going to tell myself and my wife when I have the other three that are available in the fridge.
SPEAKER_2 (3:40)
I'm adopting that, honey. I only drink beer for medicinal purposes.
SPEAKER_1 (3:44)
That's right. Medicinal beer. Again, St. Barnabas Combine, spelled with a K, the unfiltered hellas glass container, eleven point two fluid ounces and six percent alcohol by volume.
All I know is that the weekend is now officially underway. I got some beer in my belly. Let's have the best damn weekend of our lives. And this is The Hammer and Nigel Show. Come back.
