Their current top centers are getting up there in age, both 33 years old, so they're really looking to the future.

This puts a lot of focus on Cole Beaudoin, a young center they picked up recently.

He's now considered their number one center prospect. Beaudoin was acquired as part of a trade for Vincent Trocheck, and he's now ranked third overall among all their prospects. Only two other players, a defenseman and a winger, are rated higher. The pressure is definitely on Beaudoin to perform and live up to the expectations that come with being a key piece in that trade. What's going to be the deciding factor for Beaudoin is his skating. He knows it's an area he needs to work on, and he's been putting in the effort. He's even been working with a skating instructor and has shown improvement, according to some who have seen him play. However, not everyone is convinced. Some scouts still have doubts that his skating will hold him back from becoming a top player. But his dedication is undeniable. He's known for his work ethic and commitment to improving, which gives a lot of people confidence in his long term. Potential?

Ultimately, the Rangers need Beaudoin to be more than just a decent player. His continued development, especially his skating, while playing with their AHL team, will be crucial for him to reach his full potential and fill that. Importance in a role for the franchise.
