It's September 11th, welcome in. This is New York Rangers News Today, where team coverage meets AI. Cole Beaudoin, a center drafted by the New York Rangers, is making it clear he wants to play in the NHL this season. He's not waiting around, the 20-year-old is aiming for a spot on the opening night roster, a goal he's had since his first NHL camp at 18

He feels his relentless compete level and two-way game are ready for the pro level. The Rangers do have several centers already on their roster, and some veteran players who might be ahead of Beaudoin on the depth chart. But Beaudoin is confident he can show the team what he's capable of, emphasizing his work ethic and tenacity on and off the puck. Scouts have taken notice of his motor and grit, along with his solid physical build. Many believe Beaudoin has the tools to make the jump to the NHL right away. However, the team could decide to send him to the American Hockey League for development. There's a precedent for players earning a spot though, as Noah Laba did last season. Laba, who also impressed with a mature training camp and a committed two-way style, made the opening night lineup and played a significant role in his rookie year. Beaudoin shares many of those same qualities, and some consider him an even stronger prospect, despite projections of him being a bottom six center.

Beaudoin was a first round pick in the 2024 NHL draft and had a standout season in junior hockey, leading his team in playoff scoring.

He describes himself as a reliable 200-foot center, who excels in his own end and has significantly improved his offensive game. He's eager to prove himself and is excited about this new opportunity with the Rangers.
