Welcome to Entrepreneurs. Today, we are getting into a world that feels like it's changing by the second. We're talking about massive cultural shifts, some really wild technology, and a global funding environment, that is. Well, it's all over the place.

**SPEAKER_2** (0:16)
It really is. Our mission today is to give you a real snapshot of what it actually means to build a business right now in late 2025 We're gonna go beyond the hype and look at the mindset you need, the policies that can help or hurt you, and of course, the hard financial realities.

**SPEAKER_1** (0:31)
And if there's one theme that just keeps coming up again and again, it's this. This American craze to be your own boss. I mean, this isn't just a small trend. It feels like a genuine seismic shift in what people want from their careers. We're seeing hard data that shows people are actively walking away from the so-called stability of a nine to five.

**SPEAKER_2** (0:51)
And that's the key word, isn't it? So-called stability. I think it's so important to set the context here because it suggests people are completely re-evaluating what stable even means anymore. This isn't just about a side-huzzle. It's a philosophical change.

**SPEAKER_1** (1:04)
OK, so let's unpack that. We've been looking at some incredible insights from LinkedIn. And the numbers are frankly, they're stunning.

**SPEAKER_2** (1:12)
They really are.

**SPEAKER_1** (1:13)
The number of US members adding the title Founder to their profiles, it jumped 69 percent. Sixty-nine compared to just last year. That's not slow growth. That's an explosion.

**SPEAKER_2** (1:24)
It's an explosion. And you have to put that 69 percent into a bit of historical context, too. Because when you look at the longer trend, that figure has nearly tripled since the peak of the Great Reshuffle back in 2022 Wow. So this tells you it's a sustained reality now. It wasn't just a temporary reaction to the pandemic or some brief economic thing. It's a fundamental sticky change in how professionals see their entire career path.

**SPEAKER_1** (1:50)
I think that's the absolute key insight, the sustained nature of it. It tells you that for a huge number of really skilled people, that little bit of stability a corporation offers, it's just not worth it anymore, especially with the constant threat of layoffs.

**SPEAKER_2** (2:03)
The whole equation is flipped, hasn't it?

**SPEAKER_1** (2:05)
Completely. The risk of starting your own thing is now seen as what? Less scary than the risk of relying on a big faceless employer.

**SPEAKER_2** (2:13)
Absolutely. The LinkedIn Workforce Confidence Survey just hammers this point home. It shows the urgency. Nearly four in ten US professionals say they plan to start working for themselves as soon as they possibly can.

**SPEAKER_1** (2:27)
So it's not a backup plan anymore?

**SPEAKER_2** (2:29)
Not at all. It's moved from being the thing you do if you get laid off to being the preferred path, the main goal.

**SPEAKER_1** (2:36)
Okay, so this is where it gets really interesting for me. We have to look at the why. What is driving this mass exodus from traditional work? The experts we've looked at point to two huge interconnected forces that are just reshaping everything.

**SPEAKER_2** (2:49)
The first one is you sort of touched on is just the harsh reality of the job market. It's so uncertain. You got these fluctuating economic conditions. You have wave after wave of high-profile layoffs.

**SPEAKER_1** (2:58)
And the whole return to office battle.

**SPEAKER_2** (3:00)
And the RTO battle, exactly. When you as a worker feel that volatility and that complete lack of control, it naturally pushes you to find some way to take the reins yourself. The idea of self-direction, of having an uncapped earning potential, it becomes incredibly appealing.

**SPEAKER_1** (3:17)
It's the control. It's about taking back control.

**SPEAKER_2** (3:19)
100%. And then you have the second major force, which is really the great enabler, and that's technology.

**SPEAKER_1** (3:25)
Right. It has just completely lowered the barrier to entry for, well, for almost any kind of business you can imagine.

**SPEAKER_2** (3:31)
I mean, think about what it takes to spin up a business today versus even five years ago. It's a different universe. We're not just talking about having an internet connection.

**SPEAKER_1** (3:39)
No. We're talking about these incredibly powerful AI tools, tools that can draft your emails, manage your schedule, give you basic legal advice, do your bookkeeping, many of them for free or very cheap.

**SPEAKER_2** (3:51)
You combine that with digital marketplaces like Etsy or Shopify, these low-cost e-commerce platforms, and the fact that you can hire amazing talent from anywhere in the world from day one. All that old structural friction just melts away.
