Barry Morphew just can't help himself, can he? I mean, if this case did any involve the tragic death of his wife, it's comically bad. It is. There's just so many bizarre things at Barry Morphew. The trouble that he gets himself into, it's almost like a murderous curb your enthusiasm to a certain extent. Barry Morphew offered a woman $300 cash after he hit her car. He got out, tried to rub the scratches off her bumper with his shirt and his hand, like this, it's kind of, but buff that out, buff that, can't write, I'll give you cash.

Got out, mansplained it a little bit, tried to rub the scratches off of her bumper with his shirt, and his hand told her he had no insurance and refused to give his name. When she said she was calling the police, he drove over a curb and nearly hit somebody to get the hell out of there. That's called hit and run, Barry. I don't know how that has eluded you your whole life, but it seems rules, standards. Acceptable ways of interacting with society have also eluded you most of your adult life. We're going to go through some of that. This isn't an isolated incident of Barry Morphew being Barry Morphew.

There's a title of the show, Being Barry Morphew, and it's just following him around town, being a dipshit.

That would be a good show. I would tune into that.

This was August 26th of 2026 Barry Morphew was out on a $3 million bond, wearing a GPS ankle monitor, awaiting trial for first-degree murder of his wife, and the whole damn thing is on video. You think when you put up $3 million, and amazingly, you're out for the period of time leading up to the trial, for the murder of your wife, that you might really want to make sure you're crossing your T's, dotting your I's, and being on your best behavior. And accidents happen? Nobody's saying like you couldn't accidentally have a fender vendor while out on parole, or on release, or whatever the hell this is, technically. That happens. But you just have to handle it like a responsible adult. Exchange insurance information. Then do whatever is your responsibility. Problem solved. Nobody's going to jail. Nobody's getting their bond revoked. It's like you just, okay, it was an accident. That sort of stuff happens. You know what absolutely guarantees you're going back to prison? Leave the scene of the accident. On camera. Drive over a curb. Cause a scene.

The monitor on his ankle logged every mile of his day, including a stop at a Denver International Airport that nobody authorized as well. Yeah. Oh yeah. Then they start really looking at you under a microscope, Barry, when they have to look at you like, why are you here? How did this finder better happen? You're on an ankle monitor. You have limited release. You have these certain stipulations. Now we're going to have to look at the log and see everything you've done. Oh gosh, it looks like you're not following anything.

You know how you could have avoided that, Barry? Just exchanging information. Within two weeks, his bond went from 3 million to 10 million dollars, cash only. The judge said he showed no respect for any order of this court. She'd been watching him for over a year. Offender Bender, in a city of 3 million people, and Barry Morphew couldn't get through it without producing evidence against himself. The question is whether it's bad luck or whether it's something else, something that keeps happening because of who he is and how Barry Morphew thinks. Suzanne Morphew vanished on Mother's Day in 2020 after leaving her Maysville, Colorado home for a bike ride. She was 49 years old. Her husband Barry told investigators she was asleep when he left early that morning for a landscaping job in Broomfield about two hours north.

On Mother's Day, landscaping job. Yeah. One week later, Barry posted a tearful video. One week later, he did. We'll do whatever it takes to bring you back, he said. Honey, I love you. He put up $100,000 for her safe return.

And if you're reading this and going, hmm, what if he did it? Well, if he did it, then putting up $100,000 for the safe return of someone who is impossible to safely return, it looks like a lovely gesture. It looks like, damn, this guy wants his wife back. It also looks like, damn, this guy knows he's never going to have to pay $100,000 and he's going to rake in all the sympathy. For money, he will never have to pay because he knows exactly what happened. If he's innocent until proven guilty. A family friend then matched it, $200,000 for information about a missing mother of two when Barry was allowed back inside the house the last place he said he'd seen Suzanne alive. He was in there for three minutes. Body camera footage showed he didn't look around, he didn't call her phone, he didn't check the bed. Chaffey County under sheriff and Rochrish testified at the 2021 preliminary hearing that Barry had crocodile tears like fake tears. At the scene where the bike was found, investigators photographed scratches and cuts on his arms and hands in various stages of healing. They were told Suzanne kept three books together, a Bible, an Al-Anon book and a personal journal. Journal investigators found two in the fireplace. They found partially burned wood and material resembling bookbinding.
