All right, good morning, everybody. Welcome to the party. Today is Tuesday, August 4th, 2026 This is episode 1188, I believe. We're skipping 187 due to a indexing issue. I'm your host, Dr. Gerald Auger. This is Simply Cyber's Daily Cyber Threat Brief podcast. A little off today, but we're gonna work through it. If you wanna stay current on the top cyber news while engaging with like-minded professionals in the most way that is epic ever, when you're in the right place, get comfortable, get some coffee. I have coffee in a plastic cup, which is like scolding hot to touch. So I'm ready. Are you? Let's get into the news.
All right, good morning, everybody. I do want to say a quick shout out to, hold on one second, I got to see if this changes. Okay, quick shout out to G-Star, G-Star C-Y-B, G-Star, maybe Gangster Cyber, who said, and I quote, this is the most kidnapped you've ever looked, which I appreciate because that doesn't just mean I look kidnapped. This is G-Star is a long timer and is well aware of how kidnapped I do look. The thing is, I could turn on an accent light in the back, which would balance the levels perfectly, but I am in a hotel room in Las Vegas, and I am sharing the hotel room with my love of my life. So I'm trying to be relatively respectful when it comes to lighting audio. I can't really control that too much. So I definitely appreciate that. And one, hold on one second. Look at this. Look at this picture down here. This is ridiculous. What are we doing? Let's make this a little bit bigger. There we go. All right, guys. Yeah.
Let me do this. All right, guys. We're off and running. I do want to tell you, we had some audio issues. You may have noticed that we started the show a little early today. I mean, a little late. Just when you travel and you got virtual mixing boards and everything, I couldn't get it sorted out. We do have audio. But the good news is, for those who follow the show regularly, you're in for a treat. This is going to be manual sound effects and manual story reading today, as I cannot play the Spotify audio through. So that's going to be a problem. Quick shout out to James McQuiggan at 35,000 feet in the green room, who jumped in here to help me out. Nadine will not be joining the Cyber hotline.
It is the Daily Cyber Threat Brief raw. Okay, guys, so let me run through this thing. If you're new here, please grant me grace. This is not normally what it looks like, but this is the show. When we work in cyber security, it's called business continuity, and you've just got to get it done. You've got to deliver.
We will get it done, and we will have a great show. You will get educated. You will get fellowship and camaraderie. And by the end of the episode, you're gonna feel better for the experience, all right? So I want to let you know every single day, we're gonna go through eight cyber stories. I don't research or prep for them. Here's all of them. I didn't even have time to set them up correctly. We'll go to the high-level headline of the story, then we'll do the kind of cursory level parts of the story that you would get picking up any kind of RSS feed or anything like that. And then we're going to dive deep. And this is really the value proposition of why, well, one of the reasons why you would come down here, Justice Renee Dean. Thanks Phil. I'll let her know.
So Isaiah Morris says, we got to hear the news man, Jerry. That's right. So thank you very much, guys. But the whole thing is I'll go beyond the headlines and give you insights. It is BlackHack Week, so I am live from Vegas right now. There's always a million new releases, new updates, all these stuff coming out. I myself will be doing the show floor, of course, but then I've got some time with Cisco on Thursday, some time with Tenable tomorrow, Horizon 3 later today. So nice little jam-packed day of information gathering, news, and it's all about good times. Now, every single day of the week has a special segment, and Tuesday is tidbits Tuesday where I share a little bit about me. I never know what this is going to be until the moment it happens, but we see if we vibe on something. It could be about how I ate ramen last night and I do love ramen. It could be about just my favorite show that's gone off the rails in the past, and we can kind of vibe on those things. Rogue Cyber wants to know if I'm safe. Should I hold up to today's newspaper?
