Hysteria

July 23, 2026

Erin and Alyssa get into Pete Hegseth’s new testosterone policy, and the latest on the Tate Brothers arrest. Then they do a supersized Sani-Petty with producer Caroline and sprinkle a little joy into the week to celebrate Alyssa’s last episode!
Speakers: Erin Ryan, Alyssa Mastromonaco, Caroline Reston

Hysteria is brought to you by Zebiotics. Summer is right around the corner, which means your social calendar is about to be absolutely packed. I like living out my wildest extrovert dream.

Who wrote this?

**Erin Ryan** (0:12)
The only way for me to tolerate being around people for extended periods of time, and by extended, I mean for longer than 20 to 30 minutes, is to have at least one libation. Because otherwise, I'm like way too uptight, and I start bringing up things like, you know.

**Alyssa Mastromonaco** (0:28)
Life?

**Erin Ryan** (0:29)
Life.
I have been bringing up history podcasts that I've been listening to. So like, I was listening to a podcast about the fall of the Aztecs a while ago, and I was like, you have to stop bringing up Aztec rituals during conversations, because it's weird. Live your best life. Right? But something I like to do for future me is taking Zebiotics pre-alcohol before going out. Zebiotics pre-alcohol probiotic drink is world's first genetically engineered probiotic. It was invented by PhD scientists to tackle rough mornings after drinking. Here's how it works. When you drink, alcohol gets converted into a toxic by-product in the gut. It's a buildup of this by-product, not dehydration that's to blame for rough days after drinking. Pre-alcohol produces an enzyme to break this by-product down. Just remember to make pre-alcohol your first drink of the night, drink responsibly, and you'll feel your best tomorrow.
Like I said, if I'm going to go to a summer event, I would like to have a cocktail.

**Alyssa Mastromonaco** (1:27)
Not everything agrees with me, I just take a little zebiotic before I go. It's easy peasy, don't really have to think about it.

**Erin Ryan** (1:33)
Have a little zebiotic, have like a reasonable number of cocktails, drink water.

**Caroline Reston** (1:38)
One and a half is my number.

**Erin Ryan** (1:40)
Yeah, I can't really go much more than that before I look. I'm waking up and having anxiety in the night. I'm too old.

**Alyssa Mastromonaco** (1:45)
Exactly. So, you know, Erin, July is packed with barbecues, fireworks, lake weekends and late nights with friends. Keep the good times rolling into the next day.
Drink pre-alcohol before you go out and wake up ready for whatever Sunday brings. Remember to head to zbiotics.com/hysteria and use the code hysteria at checkout for 15% off.

**Erin Ryan** (2:15)
Hello and welcome to Hysteria. I'm Erin Ryan.

**Alyssa Mastromonaco** (2:18)
And I'm Alyssa Mastromonaco.

**Erin Ryan** (2:19)
Alyssa, you're here in the studio with me.

**Alyssa Mastromonaco** (2:21)
I am.

**Erin Ryan** (2:22)
A little over eight years ago was our first episode of Hysteria, and a lot has changed. What's something from back then in 2018 that you wished you could bring back?

**Alyssa Mastromonaco** (2:31)
Erin, I'm not sure there's a lot from 2018 that we should bring back.
What happened in 2018? Aretha Franklin died.

**Erin Ryan** (2:38)
You want to bring back Aretha Franklin?

**Alyssa Mastromonaco** (2:40)
I would bring back Aretha Franklin.

**Erin Ryan** (2:41)
Okay.

**Alyssa Mastromonaco** (2:42)
That would be good. But the one thing I think that's like a bonus of the last eight years, is that we have to be close to the end of Trump's time on this planet.

**Erin Ryan** (2:52)
Yes. Really?

**Alyssa Mastromonaco** (2:53)
I mean, like that is the our first, I think it was our first emergency episode.

**Erin Ryan** (3:00)
It was the first episode was the first emergency episode.

**Alyssa Mastromonaco** (3:02)
Okay. So we're thinking two different ones.

**Erin Ryan** (3:04)
Okay.

**Alyssa Mastromonaco** (3:04)
You're thinking of who retired? Kennedy?

**Erin Ryan** (3:08)
Kennedy retired.

**Alyssa Mastromonaco** (3:09)
Right. That was our emergency episode, but then there was another episode, not long after that, you were still living in New York City.
When Donald Trump said that Senator Kirsten Gillibrand used to come to him on her knees, and he was implying that she was giving blowjobs. And we called Senator Gillibrand and we're like, well, you record an episode of us really quick. And that was our first, that was like our first, I felt like that was our first real like, we got into the studio quick in New York on the Upper West Side.

**Erin Ryan** (3:39)
Yeah.

**Alyssa Mastromonaco** (3:39)
So yeah, I'm not sure there's much to bring back from back then. Just maybe he'll be done soon.

**Erin Ryan** (3:45)
Maybe. Yeah.

**Alyssa Mastromonaco** (3:46)
And I don't mean, you know, I'm not wishing harm, but-

**Erin Ryan** (3:49)
I'm going to say this, higher quality clothing. Pre 2020 clothing was higher quality.

**Alyssa Mastromonaco** (3:54)
Yeah.

**Erin Ryan** (3:54)
So I want to bring back 2012 quality clothing. I still have items of clothing from 2012
