On September 15th, the New York Rangers kicked off their rookie camp recently, giving some of the younger guys a chance to get their feet wet before. The Maine squad hits the ice. They then headed to Pennsylvania for some scrimmages against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Unfortunately, those games didn't go as planned. The Rangers dropped both matchups, losing by scores of 3-2 and 4-1.

While there were flashes of good play, the Flyers forwards generally have the upper hand. However, not all was lost. One player who really stood out was forward Nathan Aspinall. He's been climbing the prospect ranks this offseason and made a strong impression during the scrimmages. According to reports, Aspinall was even highlighted by the head coach of the Hartford Wolf Pack, Jay Leach, who led the rookie camp. Aspinall even managed to score a goal in one of the games, showcasing his offensive potential. Aspinall was a fifth-round pick in the last draft, but his size and scoring ability suggest he might be a steal. He's got a lot of raw talent, and if he keeps developing, he could definitely make some noise in the Rangers system.
