Good brother. What you got for us?

So, I've gotten a graver.
And I'm thinking about expanding and getting into metals and specifically guns. And I've been told so many different things about the requirements as far as do you need an FFL or not. I've heard that if they leave it with you, you need one. Or if they wait with, you know, while you do the work, you don't need one or assemble, disassemble. It can't all be true. So what's the real scoop on that? If I want to do like scroll work or, you know, custom grips on a firearm, do I need to obtain an FFL for that or?

**Guy Relford** (1:05)
Yeah. And for our listeners, FFL means Federal Firearms License. So he's asking if he wants to do work on a gun, does he need a federal firearms license? And the way I've always understood this, James, and I can't give legal advice here on the radio, but the way I've always understood that area of the law, and I've talked to a number of people in this position, is it's what you said earlier, which is if they're gonna leave it with you, if they're gonna leave it in your possession and leave the premises, then you have to have a federal firearms license in order to do that kind of work, just like a gunsmith does. What do you say, engraver? Engraver, yeah. A lot of folks, I've had guns engraved. Well, to have an NFA gun, like a short-barreled rifle, short-barreled shotgun, if you want to make your own suppressor, you can do that, but they have to be engraved. They have to be engraved with the manufacturer, which is you, and the city and town, and the caliber, city and state, rather, and the caliber. So, and other people do it just for ornamental reasons. They just make their gun look cool with different engravings. And so, my answer, and this would bear some additional research, just to make 100% sure this is accurate, but my understanding has always been, if they don't leave it with you, you don't need an FFL, because it's not essentially leaving their possession.
But if they do, then you got to have that license. Let's go back to the phone lines, and Dennis is with us.

My question is about the bill that they're trying to pass in Oregon on hunting. And if that passes, how will that pick up any kind of momentum across the US?

**Guy Relford** (2:50)
Yeah, Dennis, I'm going to put you on hold, because we've got a lot of noise. Yeah, I know exactly what he's talking about. The Oregon's trying to amend their animal cruelty laws in such a way that would basically eradicate hunting and fishing. And the, you know, the liberal wacko left us out there. It is really, I think, a way of attacking hunting.
And their animal cruelty laws would essentially prevent them from hunting. Dennis, I have no concerns about this picking up any momentum that affects us here in Indiana. And I'll tell you a big reason why is a lot of people kind of didn't see this. It went under the radar for a lot of people. But about, I want to say, four years ago, Indiana actually amended its state constitution to add, I believe it's Article 37, maybe 39
But it's Article 1, Section 37 or 39 of the Indiana Constitution. Like Article 1, Section 32 is the right to keep and bear arms. The new section under that same listing of rights in the Indiana Constitution, we memorialized the right to hunt and fish as a constitutional right right here in Indiana.

So if they try to pass something like it, not that we would ever see that that would ever see the light a day of some wacko introduced it, it would never get a hearing and it would die in committee. But even if they were willing to consider it, it'd be contrary to our our newly amended constitution here in Indiana.
