Whoo!

**Nigel** (0:02)
It's The Hammer and Nigel Show! My name is Nigel, Jason Hammer is out. Brian Alvey, military stud and veteran is in. Also joining us live in studio, Jerry Lopez, Indy Spanglish, who will be doing Tony Kenneth's show tonight. Joining us live in studio. Hello, sir.

**Jerry Lopez** (0:21)
The artist formerly known as Indy Spanglish, and then I was banned from Twitter.

**Nigel** (0:25)
I saw that. I'm sorry that you got banned from Twitter because I knew that was your lifeline to social media.

**Jerry Lopez** (0:31)
I mean, that's a little it's a touchy subject still. I'm sorry. I've moved to your grandma's social media, so I'm only on Facebook now. Hey, do you want to do your grandma follows me?

**Nigel** (0:41)
So you got your head. Do you want to do Ask Alvey with us?

**Jerry Lopez** (0:43)
Yeah, let's do it.

**Nigel** (0:44)
Because we've got some callers here. Ask Alvey 3172399393
We did this yesterday. Alvey is a military veteran, as are you. And maybe you could even join in on this. So let's go to Jim 2399393 Jim, do you have a question for Brian Alvey?

**Jim** (1:01)
Hey, Brian Alvey and also both of you guys. I appreciate your service. Thank you. I'm a retired Sergeant Major.

**Brian Alvey** (1:08)
Thank you, brother. Thank you for your service, Sergeant Major.

**Jim** (1:11)
I kind of follow along your line of lifetime here. I've done my 23 years, but I managed to play music in a band. And you say you deal with bars as well.
But I was wondering, what do you thought about the National Guard as far as them integrating into active component services? Do you feel like they do a good enough job?

**Jerry Lopez** (1:33)
Absolutely.

**Brian Alvey** (1:34)
They carried 40 percent of the load during the war for 20 years in Iraq and Afghanistan. If they didn't carry that load, we would not have had the outcome we had.

**Jerry Lopez** (1:42)
I mean, American National Guard is still wetter, better than Iraqi, the military. I will say that you can only do one week in a month and every two weeks a year and show up. You call your commander Bob, that's weird for active duty.

**Brian Alvey** (1:53)
Yeah, but that's not the case. That was the 70s.

**Jerry Lopez** (1:56)
No, we had reserve call-ups for when I was out.

**Brian Alvey** (1:58)
That's what it was. It's a big difference.

**Nigel** (2:00)
So what was Jim asking?

**Brian Alvey** (2:01)
I mean, Yeah, he's asking if the National Guard could be here.

**Jim** (2:04)
I appreciate that. I did 17 years in the National Guard, but I was wondering what your thought was. National Guard service members cannot draw their military retirement until they turn the age of 60

**Brian Alvey** (2:15)
Yeah, that's not fair.

**Jim** (2:16)
If you're active duty, you can do it as soon as you can.

**Brian Alvey** (2:19)
And it's pro rated to the Reserve Service. It's not the same amount, EO. So there's no reason why the National Guard should be able to pull their retirement as soon as they retire. They can't pull it until they're 60

**Jim** (2:31)
I appreciate your time.

**Brian Alvey** (2:32)
Makes no mathematical sense, my friend.

**Nigel** (2:34)
Jim, thank you for your service, sir. I appreciate it. Let's go to Eric. Do you have a question for Ask Alvey?

**Jim** (2:42)
Hey, Brian, Jared, both of you guys in the studio.

**Brian Alvey** (2:45)
Hey, buddy.

**Jim** (2:46)
This will not be military related, so take it easy on you guys. Well, since both the ash holes are in the studio, what are you guys' favorite cigars? What do you got in the humidor?

**Nigel** (2:56)
You have a podcast, by the way, YouTube, Jerry and Brian have a podcast called Those or These?

**Brian Alvey** (3:03)
Those.

**Nigel** (3:03)
Those ash holes.

**Brian Alvey** (3:05)
How dare you mess up our pronouns, sir.

**Jerry Lopez** (3:09)
It's funny because everybody says it and then there's a distinct pause. That cost you $30,000.

**Nigel** (3:15)
Eric was wanting to know your favorite cigar.

**Brian Alvey** (3:17)
Well, honestly, man, so style, I'm definitely a Maduro guy. I like the darker, richer, spicier. That's why I partnered up with this Cuban crazy guy on my podcast, because he fits that bill.
But brand wise, I've got a lot of different ones. I go through cycles. I'm a fat kid in the candy shop. I want a piece of all of it. You know, I'm not picking. So I don't definitively have a favorite. Chiefs Cigars is really good. Chiefs is awesome.
