Are you really okay, Orpheus?
Allison (0:04)
Are you okay?
Nigel (0:05)
Everything's gonna be okay.
Are you okay? Yeah, I'm fine.
SPEAKER_4 (0:12)
I'm pretty far from okay.
Nigel (0:15)
Are you okay with this? On the Hammer and Nigel Show.
Okay, McDonald's Hammer has bottled up their pickle juice into little shots to give out to runners in the Chicago Marathon. Apparently, pickle juice, full of electrolytes, can help with cramp management. Here is one social media influencer trying out the shot.
SPEAKER_4 (0:43)
McDonald's pickle juice shot. McDonald's is bottling their Big Mac pickle brine for the Chicago Marathon. So various locations across Chicago are gonna have these available on race day. It is hilarious that they sent these to me because I do not run marathons nor do I really run any distances. But obviously I have to try it. I did have a few cocktails last night. Cheers. Yeah, that hits.
That is crisp and salty and sour. I imagine it's packed with electrolytes, so it's healthy. Chicago Marathon runners, you will enjoy this.
Nigel (1:13)
Are you okay with this? Are you okay if you're a runner in the Chicago Marathon? Would you have a shot? You know, would you rather have a shot of pickle juice or just maybe a little dixie cup full of water? I don't know.
Hammer (1:24)
No, I've heard this before. Yeah, I'm okay with this. I didn't think this was anything new. Like sports teams have been kind of doing this for a long time. Players, they get cramps, especially in those early season games where it's really hot. I think Kurt Signetti called some of those early IU games, sauna games, where it feels like a sauna down there. Pickle juice is a great way to help alleviate cramping and dehydration.
I'm surprised that somebody hasn't done this before. So good for the McDonald's marketing team for looking around going, really? Nobody's done this yet. Screw it. We'll do it.
So they get their name out there. They get mentioned. We're talking about it here. Allison, you've heard about this before, though, how pickle juice is a good source of dealing with cramps and dehydration, right?
Allison (2:11)
Yeah, actually, I've had a couple of friends who've been pregnant, and they've craved pickle juice. And it helps with, like you said, hydration stuff. So, I mean, I say go for it. If it's lying around, might as well.
Hammer (2:22)
And I thought, Nigel, as much as you've been hung over in your life, you would have tried this before.
Nigel (2:27)
I've never tried pickle juice as a hangover here.
Allison (2:30)
Do you like pickles?
Nigel (2:31)
I love pickles. So you're saying I should drink the remnants from a dill pickle jar?
Allison (2:38)
I'd love to see that.
Hammer (2:40)
Yes.
Yes. That's exactly what she's saying.
Nigel (2:45)
Singer-songwriter David Byrne, who was the, you know, he co-founded The Talking Heads.
Hammer (2:51)
They were the burning down the house people.
Nigel (2:53)
Burning down the house once in a lifetime. And you may ask yourself, oh, how did I get here? He wrote a song for that new Elon Musk documentary. It's called Musk Creative.
I miss your Musk.
Hammer (3:11)
We should get a department together.
Nigel (3:13)
But David, but David Byrne wrote the lyrics and he made up like part of the lyrics are made up of actual Elon Musk quotes. Here's part of the song. Let me sell you a dream.
Hammer (3:56)
I was never a David Byrne guy to begin with. So I guess if you like talking heads and you like David Byrne and his big stupid jacket with the shoulder pads in it, maybe you're like, yeah, this is a good song.
Nigel (4:11)
I love how that encapsulates your knowledge of David Byrne.
Hammer (4:16)
I think I summed it up pretty well, did I not?
Penstripe weirdo suit with the big shoulder pads in it, three sizes too big. Never liked David Byrne, didn't like any of his songs. And this isn't an original idea, taking somebody's quotes and just turning it into a song.
Nigel (4:36)
No.
Hammer (4:37)
If you remember Hammer and Nigel Records, we did exactly that with Joe Biden quotes.
Nigel (6:17)
Oh yeah, yeah.
Hammer (6:23)
Oh yeah.
Nigel (6:28)
There it is. Bravo. Just what a gold mine Joe Biden was when he was president, but what a god awful president. What damage did he do to this country?
Hammer (6:41)
We went through four years of Trump and we had chopper pressers and, you know, Big Macs and Cokes. And I remember when that 2020 election happened, we thought, man, we're losing a lot of material. And then Biden came along and was just this stuttering old goat. And we got four years of comedy gold because not only did we get Joe, we got Hunter and four years of comedy gold.
