Are you really okay?
Caitlin (0:04)
Are you okay?
SPEAKER_3 (0:05)
Everything's gonna be okay. Are you okay?
Jerry (0:09)
Yeah, I'm fine.
SPEAKER_5 (0:11)
I'm pretty far from okay.
Mary Beth Barone (0:14)
Are you okay with this?
Nigel (0:16)
On The Hammer and Nigel Show.
Okay! My name is Nigel, Jerry Lopez, filling in for Jason Hammer. We have a ton to get to this hour, including, you're lucky you're here, Beer Sample Friday, my friend. I have a very unique selection for us, I think you're going to enjoy.
Jerry (0:35)
Listen, if they want to bring me out of the bullpen, you have to have beers, so that's a great start.
Nigel (0:40)
And also, this is right down your alley, coming up a little bit after 5.30, tech editor for Breitbart, Collin Medine is going to talk us through this AI stuff. Are you one of these guys, before we get to, you know, before we get to, are you okay with this? Are you one of these guys that thinks that AI is going to kill like a billion people like Bill Gates said?
Jerry (1:03)
I mean, I don't look at it from a Terminator standpoint, but being a counterterrorism guy, I think I'm more worried about how terrorists could potentially use AI in the future to attack us, right? Go back to the kids movie, the guy that can make your toaster aware and now it can kill you at night time. Like how far are we from that guy?
Nigel (1:21)
And we will get to all that a little bit after 5.30. But right now, the more pressing issue here, Jerry, is that Starbucks is closing 250 unprofitable locations in the United States and Canada. Are you OK with this?
Jerry (1:38)
No, because that means less of my white friends are drinking the pumpkin spice. Like I need you guys out there hitting this pumpkin spice. If there's anything I know is if you're ever lost, just look for the nearest Starbucks. It's not in the ghetto and it will be in a profitable area.
This is proof.
Nigel (1:56)
I enjoy a good PSL from Starbucks.
Jerry (2:00)
What is a PSL, Nigel?
Nigel (2:02)
Pumpkin spice latte.
Jerry (2:02)
No, you did not do that, dude.
Nigel (2:04)
Yeah, I abbreviate it. Jerry, I abbreviate the PSL.
And so fall, you know, fall is a romantic season, but for big business, it's like, you know, it's fourth quarter crunch time.
Jerry (2:18)
No, you said the PSL.
Nigel (2:21)
I'm trying to move past it.
Jerry (2:22)
You're too embarrassed to say pumpkin spice latte, so you abbreviate it to PSL, Nigel.
Nigel (2:28)
Here is a little Hammer and Nigel tribute for those poor, unfortunate Starbucks that are having to close down.
SPEAKER_5 (2:36)
It's fall at Starbucks, and at locations where sales have fallen, they'll be closing soon.
SPEAKER_3 (2:43)
But then where will I go to get my grande white chocolate gingerbread frappuccino double blended with pumpkin spice?
SPEAKER_5 (2:50)
Two hundred and fifty locations, going bye-bye.
SPEAKER_3 (2:54)
But then where will I find another turkey bacon cheddar and egg white breakfast sandwich that they make in a microwave but pretend it was made fresh in the magic kitchen in the mall?
SPEAKER_5 (3:03)
Sorry, it's no longer part of our coffee house portfolio.
SPEAKER_3 (3:07)
So now how far will I have to go to get a collector's item travel mug to shove in the face of other moms who don't have one?
SPEAKER_5 (3:13)
Well, ironically, you'll have to travel a little farther. Or you could just make coffee at home.
SPEAKER_3 (3:19)
Wait, you can make coffee at home?
SPEAKER_5 (3:22)
Starbucks, where some locations drive throughs, just got a little longer.
Nigel (3:27)
Oh, that's sad.
Yeah, the PSL, one of my favorites. And I could go anywhere with it. Like, it doesn't need to be from Starbucks. If it's got pumpkin spice in it, I don't care if it's GitGo Cafe or Speedway or Meyer or Starbucks.
Jerry (3:47)
Do you put on your leggings when you get to your PSL?
SPEAKER_3 (3:51)
Is that part of the uniform?
Nigel (3:52)
My Tom Brady Uggs.
Jerry (3:54)
Yeah, I could see it.
Nigel (3:55)
The male version, the male Uggs.
Jerry (3:57)
Your Lululemon leggings.
Nigel (4:00)
They have, hold on, you go to Lululemon, they have products for male at Lululemon.
Jerry (4:07)
This is not a Jason Hammer AI photo. This is Nigel and his Uggs and Lululemon sweatpants. I'm not okay with that, by the way.
Nigel (4:18)
Okay. There's a viral video from this Comedienne. I guess we have to call him Comedienne. You have to put the excess, the accent on the air.
