Are you really okay with this?
Nigel (0:05)
Are you okay? Everything's going to be okay. Are you okay?
Hammer (0:10)
Yeah, I'm fine.
Nigel (0:12)
I'm pretty far from okay.
Hammer (0:15)
Are you okay with this? On the Hammer and Nigel Show Podcast.
Oh, yeah! Well, Hammer comedian Bill Burr is doing an interview with Rolling Stone, basically justifying Luigi Mangione's murdering the health care CEO. Let's have that audio.
Nigel (0:36)
I mean, if you look at all of this stuff, like the response to the Luigi thing was not to be like, well, hey, maybe we need to look at what we're doing if what we're doing makes some crazy person do this. Their response was to take their faces off of the Internet and get security. It's like you don't think you need to examine.
You know what I mean? It's like you're not the president. You're just the CEO of a business.
Hammer (1:02)
Are you okay with that?
Hammer (1:03)
No, and I wish Bill Burr would just go back to being the funny guy.
At some point, he crossed over into that. I'm going to dip my toe into the woke water lexicon. And he's been this way for a couple of years now.
Like, I'm okay with comedians having different political philosophies. One of my favorite comedians of all time was George Carlin. George Carlin was far from a conservative, right? Far from it. But his comedy was hilarious. But the way Bill Burr does things now, you could tell he's going to that Jimmy Kimmel school of, I want to get invited to the parties. I want to be invited to the liberal cookouts and the fundraisers. And I want to have buddies like Ben Stiller and all this kind of crap. That's what's frustrating to me, because at his core, Bill Burr is hilarious. But when you're saying that some dude who got gunned down in cold blood in the middle of the street, a father and a husband, you're making somewhat of a joke, I guess.
It's not even really a joke. It's a take. You have a take about how, well, it's your company's fault. You guys made the guy do that. What a disgusting piece of crap. I'm sorry, I'm not okay with that.

Nascar legend Daryl Waltrip stepping away from public life for health reasons. Family has shared cognitive issues with his brain and what is believed to be CTE is kind of affecting his personality. Are you okay with this?
Hammer (2:46)
No, man, I hate this because Daryl Waltrip is a good dude. Yeah, former Daytona 500 winner, one of the champions of Nascar, man. He was one of the guys that helped take it from just some southern sport into the next level. Daryl Waltrip and Dale Earnhardt and Bill Elliott, you know, Ricky Rudd, those were the dudes that helped take Nascar from some fringe southern sport to being a massive giant that it is now.
The statement that his family put out, quote, recently, Daryl has been diagnosed with frontotemporal degeneration, FTD, complicated by possible CTE.
Likely injuries occurred during his racing career. The statement goes on, while this disease will inevitably progress, thankfully, it is currently limited to some minor but noticeable symptoms. As a result, he will be stepping away from the public limelight. Be assured, Daryl is happy and otherwise healthy. Spending his time with his wife, Stevie, two daughters, his three young grandchildren. We are all grateful for your continued prayers, love and support. PS boogity, boogity, boogity. His catchphrase from when he jumped into the broadcast booth. So, yeah, man, I hate that.
You always think about CTE affecting football players or boxers.
Hammer (4:18)
Yeah.
Hammer (4:18)
But if you think about it, like old school race drivers, like he came up in that era where safety really wasn't as.
You know, good as it is now, there wasn't no Hans device. You didn't have the proper stuff. And I'm sure he's been in a crap ton of...
Hammer (4:35)
You ain't rubbing, you ain't raising.
Hammer (4:36)
Right, right, right.
