Hi, this is Perry, and we had a little snafu this time, and I thought I would dip into the archives and give you a replay of a show that I did with Randy back a couple of years ago. So enjoy this flashback to The Beauty Brains of old.

And don't worry, we'll have a new show next week.

SPEAKER_2 (0:22)

You're listening to The Beauty Brains Show, where real scientists answer your beauty questions. And now here's Randy and Perry.

Randy Schuller (0:43)

Hey, everybody, I'm Randy Schuller.

Perry Romanoski (0:45)

And I'm Perry Romanoski.

Randy Schuller (0:46)

And we are The Beauty Brains, two dorky cosmetic scientists who are podcasting our way into your hearts and minds.

Perry Romanoski (0:53)

And answering your beauty product questions.

Randy Schuller (0:55)

There you go.

This is episode 101 of our show, and today we're going to be talking about how beauty products are regulated internationally, which sounds really boring when I say it that way. Can you tease that any better to make it sound exciting?

Perry Romanoski (1:11)

Enter the fascinating world of cosmetic regulations.

Randy Schuller (1:16)

Okay, close enough. Stick around. Stick around. We'll get to that shortly.

Perry Romanoski (1:21)

Actually, the information is quite fascinating, quite interesting. And we're going to do it with a guy who has an accent different than ours.

Randy Schuller (1:28)

That's a good tease. Well done. So before we get to that, we haven't talked in a while. I just wanted to catch up with you. I know you were off doing some traveling for the Secret Society of Cosmetic Chemists. Are we going to talk about that?

Perry Romanoski (1:39)

Yeah. Actually, I've been doing a bunch of traveling lately. We had a little hiatus with our show, and so that gave me time. I took trips to Denver, Cincinnati and Stamford, Connecticut.

And that's really just the life of a beauty blogging cosmetic chemist.

But one thing that I noticed when I was in Denver, which is sort of beauty related, your skin gets really dry. Now, in Chicago here, like in the winter, skin, it's getting really dry, and you can use lotion. But I'm in Denver, the weather is like 75, 80 degrees, and my skin felt really dry. And I think it's just related to you're up in the higher altitude, and there's less moisture, lower humidity there, and so that's going to affect your skin poorly.

Randy Schuller (2:30)

So what is the relative humidity in Denver this time of year?

Perry Romanoski (2:36)

You know, let me consult my weather app.

Randy Schuller (2:39)

And you call yourself a cosmetic scientist. Shame on you.

Perry Romanoski (2:43)

So here's a pro tip for any of you traveling to the mountains. Bring some skin lotion, even if it's the summer.

You know, I'm awful. I never really use skin lotion, except when my hands like start to really hurt.

Randy Schuller (2:57)

Yeah, when it's kind of too late, then you do it.

Perry Romanoski (3:00)

Well, it feels better when you put it on, even if your hands hurt, right?

Randy Schuller (3:04)

That's true. That's true.

All right. So in a minute, we're going to answer our question of the week. But I think it's interesting to note that this question came to us through an iTunes review.

Perry Romanoski (3:15)

Oh, yes. We do love our iTunes reviews. What do we have? How many we got so far?

Randy Schuller (3:19)

We're actually over 125 now, which is kind of cool.

And, you know, we took a blood oath to give a shout out to every one of our listeners who writes a review for us. And we've had a lot in the last couple of weeks. So why don't we do a couple more today and kind of get caught up.

Perry Romanoski (3:35)

Yeah, that sounds great. I'll take the first one. All right.

This one comes from us from Hi CD3. They say, most trustworthy source for beauty science. These guys know more about beauty products than nearly all of the instant fix studies and products advertised and endorsed on TV.

Randy Schuller (3:53)

Maybe we should be on TV.

Amanda says, I've learned so much from listening to these two seasoned pros. I'm continually grateful to these guys for providing informative, entertaining podcasts for free. And she also said, I love Perry's voice. Now, the consensus, Amanda, in case you're not aware of, the consensus is that Perry's voice is very annoying.

Perry Romanoski (4:16)

Wait, I was the one to put that meme out there.

Randy Schuller (4:22)

So there's that. But then I'm also concerned now, you know, does Mrs. Romanowski listen to this show? Because she might, you know, not take that very well.
