Hi, I'm Molly Jong-Fast, and this is Fast Politics, where we discuss the top political headlines with some of today's best minds. And it's the six-month anniversary of Donald Trump's war of choice in Iran. We have such a great show for you today. Msnow's Andrew Weissmann stops by to talk about Supreme Court fuckery and mail-in voting. Then we'll talk to United Healthcare Workers West's president, Dave Regan, about their California billionaire's tax. But first, the news.
**Jesse Cannon** (0:34)
Molly, there's some interesting reporting on how Natalie Harp is used as a pawn by Stephen Miller to get his little immigrant hating ways.
**Molly Jong-Fast** (0:43)
Do you know what I've been reading, Jesse Cannon?
**Jesse Cannon** (0:46)
Stephen Miller's diary and it just says I hate brown people.
**Molly Jong-Fast** (0:49)
No, I have been reading Regime Change by Maggie and Jonathan. Have you been reading Regime Change?
**Jesse Cannon** (0:56)
No, I've been reading Kurt Anderson's The Breakup because I need a much more peaceful dystopian future.
**Molly Jong-Fast** (1:01)
You should read it because it's a horror nonfiction and in it, it talks about how Stephen Miller genuinely believes all of the stuff that many of these Republicans are pretending to believe. And he's also really smart. And so Stephen Miller has figured out that Natalie Harp is the filter bubble for Donald Trump and that you have to go to Natalie Harp in order to get to Donald Trump. So two sources told Zateo that on multiple occasions, Miller showed Harp anti-immigration content with directions to get it posted quickly. Miller is doing two things here.
He's getting the information to Trump and he's getting the information out of Trump's microphone. And Stephen Miller, the reason why we have ICE raids in the way that we do is because of Stephen Miller. Because Donald Trump, he's a racist, don't get me wrong, but he doesn't really care. And this, the real cruelty, the kind of stuff that we saw, the really terrifying, horrific stuff is coming right from Stephen Miller.
**Jesse Cannon** (2:04)
So another way it's run is that Trump's family is constantly getting rich on crypto schemes. When we see these graphs of where their money is coming from, crypto is always nice and tall, like a Dubai tower in the sky. And there's a new crypto bank that's backed by an Abu Dhabi shake.
**Molly Jong-Fast** (2:21)
And World Liberty Financial, there is no way that if America gets back to normal, which hopefully it will, that we don't see endless scary stuff. And remember, World Liberty Financial was originally this vehicle that just did weird stuff for the Trump administration. It's run by Steve Wyckoff's son. Of course it is. And now it's doing a deal. Chief Executive Zach Wyckoff, son of Middle East envoy Steve Wood, says World Liberty's ambition is to build the most trusted and widely used digital dollar in the world. I don't think that's really what World Liberty Financial's ambition is. It's working on a partnership with its shareholders after the president in July 2025 signed the Genius Act. By the way, if you're a Democrat supporting the Genius Act, what the actual fuck? Our government has still not regulated anything, and the Genius Act is basically just a way to not regulate more stuff.
**Jesse Cannon** (3:23)
Yep.
**Molly Jong-Fast** (3:23)
So no thank you.
**Jesse Cannon** (3:25)
Many people think little Marco could be president, and Molly, I have to say, I know you're a big fan of Veep. So the one thing his campaign will bring us is many Veep-like moments like this.
**SPEAKER_3** (3:36)
Yesterday, you told us that Israel was going to strike Iran, and that's why we needed to get it all. Today, the president said that Iran was going to get it.
**Jesse Cannon** (3:45)
Yeah, your statement is false. So that's not what he... I was asked very specifically.
**SPEAKER_3** (3:48)
Were you there yesterday?
**Molly Jong-Fast** (3:49)
Yes, ma'am.
**SPEAKER_3** (3:49)
Okay.
**Molly Jong-Fast** (3:50)
I want to pull back and just say this. Marco Rubio and JD Vance don't believe anything. They believe they want to be president next. Marco will say anything to be president, and JD Vance will too. The only difference is that JD Vance seems a little sketchier than Marco.
**Jesse Cannon** (4:06)
I think Marco does have the posture of somebody who's just embarrassed by what Trump walks up into every day.
**Molly Jong-Fast** (4:13)
I think that's doing a lot of service for Marco.
**Jesse Cannon** (4:17)
I think he feels uncomfortable more of the time in my reading of his body language.
**Molly Jong-Fast** (4:22)
I think we want him to seem like he gives a shit, but ultimately, who even knows? Anyway, the point is everybody is just ruining themselves for Trump is the end of the story here.
