Today is October 12th. Alright, big news for the New York Rangers and their fans. They're off to a hot start in the 2026-27 season, showing big improvements on home ice and coming out strong in the first period of games. This is the kind of energy fans have been waiting for, and it's all contributing to the vibe around the team. One player stepping up and flipping the script is Alexis Lafrenière. Over the last seven games, he's shown a whole new level of creativity and offensive skill.

Finally, getting the recognition he deserves, Lafrenière is becoming a pivotal part of this ranger squad. This evolution couldn't have come at a better time. It's been a long journey for Lafrenière since being drafted. Expectations were sky high and the label of bust followed him for too long.

Now, with five goals and three assists, he's shedding that label while leading the team, especially as they face the challenge of losing goaltender Igor Shesterkin for the season. This is a huge moment for him. Fans are cautiously optimistic, though. There are still questions about whether he can sustain this performance throughout the season, but honestly, he's building off an impressive finish from last year, making smart moves and switching spots with other players to create sparks in games.

This dynamic play is exactly what the Rangers need. So, all in all, it looks like Lafrenière is finally finding his footing and starting to live up to the hype. It's exciting for fans to see him become that star player they always hoped he'd be, especially at a solid contract. The season's still long, but he's heading in the right direction.
