So, there's a lot of kerfuffle around some missing guns, a police chief and a $5,000 check in the Alec Murdaugh case. So, these have all been elements of this case that we've known about for years, really. I remember years ago when we heard about the $5,000 check and it was apparently explained away as a loan that Alec was giving to this police chief's parents. You know, they were tight, they were friends, and there's nothing, I mean, it's not on common either when you're in a position of power, the way Alec Murdaugh was pre-murder, to have tight relations with others in government. Now, this is where you get into areas where, you know, you scratch your back, I'll scratch mine, old boys club, all that bullshit, all that comes into play when people can't keep things on the up and up. And there are allegations now, Fitz News is reporting quite a bit of this, that, you know, maybe some of that, oh, you scratch my back, I'll scratch your back, old boys club, we're, we're going to help each other out in times of need.
May have been in play here in this case. And if these allegations are true, again, big if, and I want to be clear, I am not accusing this police chief of any wrongdoing in anything I'm talking about. We are discussing the reporting and what is allegedly going on right now with a grand jury. I mean, the fact that it's allegedly gone that far is pretty big news, but everybody's, you know, innocent till guilty, including Alex Murdaugh, believe it or not. But if these allegations are true, where does that take us in this case?
Because if somebody has the weapons that have been missing, never recovered from the scene, nobody knows where they were. If he had them, how? It there's a lot of questions there. How did he get them? Why does he have them? Who did he get them from?
What was his involvement in obtaining those weapons? Like did Alec, here, take these, buddy. Did this officer just take them from the scene for some reason? Was he involved in the actual crime itself?
Was this a hit for Alec? And Alec really didn't do it? But he had somebody else do it for him? There's so many questions that if these allegations have a centilla of truth to them about this officer, this police chief having the guns, well, holy shit, this southern scandal just got far crazier than I think any of us could have ever imagined. So let's go through what's being reported right now, what we know, what we don't know, what's in the ether. Okay, the 300 Blackout Rifle and the 12 gauge 12 gauge shotgun used to kill Maggie and Paul Murdaugh, never been found. We've established that five years, the six week trial, conviction and appeal, and a unanimous reversal by the South Carolina Supreme Court. And in all that, neither weapon has surfaced. The prosecution's theory at the 2023 trial was that Alec hid them at his parents' home in Elmita, possibly moved them in that blue raincoat that he had on. Police didn't search Elmita until September 16th of 21, more than three months after the killings, and they found nothing. Lots of time. Lots of time. Get in there and move stuff, maybe into that blue raincoat that happened to have gunpowder on it. The state grand jury is now investigating whether the answer is simpler than any of that, whether Alec Murdaugh's close friend, the MSC Police Chief, Greg Alexander, handled both guns and bloody clothing in the hours after the murders and stored them at his own police station. Whoa, what an allegation that is. Grand jury witnesses have allegedly testified to seeing the weapons in Alexander's hands.
