It's October 18th, welcome in. This is New York Rangers News Today, where team coverage meets AI.

Alright, so we got to talk about Alberts Smits and what he's been showing with the Rangers. He's been getting some buzz for his strong defensive play, even though he hasn't scored yet. That just means he's laying the groundwork for a solid career ahead. Then there's his shot from the left circle that nearly found the net during a recent game. It shows he's got the skills, even if it didn't go in.

The team's still convinced that offensive side will kick in eventually, and that's a good sign for the future. Also, his time on the ice has been impressive despite some ups and downs. Smits ranks second in expected goals per 60 minutes among the Rangers defenseman. That's telling you he's in the right areas, creating chances even if the stats don't reflect that just yet.

And don't forget about his role in the younger lineup. The Rangers are prioritizing his potential over more experienced players. They know growing pains are part of it, but they're willing to be patient with him as he learns the ropes. So yeah, while he's still looking for that first point, Smits has shown flashes of brilliance. It'll be exciting to see how he developed as the season rolls on.
