Opus 5.5 is turning every game you've ever loved into a fully moddable, magical mess. And gamers are mad because we've got Portal in our Call of Duty, and we have cyberpunk, Minecraft, Mario Kart in Skyrim, and the lawyers are gonna need a bigger boat.

Gavin Purcell (0:16)

There are brand new techniques with Claude CoD and ChatGPT that are quick traveling everybody to lawsuit city, maybe. We will show you the best and tell you how to do this very, very easily.

But it's not our fault if you do it. Just keep that in mind.

Kevin Pereira (0:31)

Right. Also, it's a financial bloodletting.

Gavin Purcell (0:33)

Speaking of OpenAI's DevDay was this week and we got Dots. We're going to talk about Dots. These are agent with their own cloud computers and we got a $500 monthly plan plus GPT 6.1 Sol, which is not bad. But GPT 6.1 Astra was delayed. We will have more on that. I did test Sol against Opus 5.5 and you know.

Kevin Pereira (0:56)

No, I don't know what. What's the result?

Gavin Purcell (0:58)

Kevin, that's the tease. That's the tease. But to be honest with you, Opus kind of kicked Sol's butt. Oh, great tease.

Kevin Pereira (1:04)

Great. Stay tuned to find out why slash how and who the real killer is.

Gavin Purcell (1:08)

Opus 5.5 does to me feel like a pretty significant step towards AGI, especially after my AI agent Fig made a 27 minute documentary about AI almost entirely on its own. It scripted it, it generated the host, it edited it, it added the music.

Kevin Pereira (1:25)

So you modded yourself out of a job.

Gavin Purcell (1:27)

Well, I still had to do the six hours of annoying back and forth notes work that any executive producer has to do on any project.

Kevin Pereira (1:34)

Okay, cool. So let me get this straight. You leveraged the latest in technology and spent a whole bunch of money and burnt tokens and electricity so that you could keep the most annoying parts of the job.

Gavin Purcell (1:46)

Yeah, you know, maybe this is not a great thing for me to take my creativity out of the mix. Well, I'll show you the process, the cost and where it got weird.

SPEAKER_4 (1:54)

Sorry, sorry. Lovely work, gentlemen. I'll take it from here. Two men, one podcast and a machine that did all of their homework, including me.

This is AI. Introducing AI For Humans.

Gavin Purcell (2:13)

Welcome everybody to AI For Humans, your weekly guide to the wonderful world of AI. Kevin, what a fun week. We have some big news.

We have OpenAI's DevDay, which we are going to get to a little bit. But first, people are doing some crazy stuff with the video games. This is a fun week. I think for me, my first thing was I saw a clip online of Mario in the Dark Souls games that a lot of people are referring to as, I don't remember, there's a gay bowser line that comes up in one of the Mario games and there's a very famous clip. But basically, what's happening here is people have figured out, and Kevin's going to get into the big details on how this happened, and then we'll talk about how you can do it. People have figured out how to take video games and essentially mash them up. And these are not AI videos. I want everybody to know. These are actual games being run with modified code. And there's a long history of modified PC games specifically. But Kevin, why don't you tell us a little bit about what's going on here, why it's happening now and kind of like what's the most interesting part of this?

Kevin Pereira (3:12)

Yeah, maybe you've seen videos of like Modern Warfare 2 mercenaries skateboarding like Tony Hawk or even Metal Gear doing it, you know.

If you've seen those, you've probably gone like, oh, these are just people doing AI slop videos, but they're not. They are running in a game engine and the way they're doing it is is decompilation. So what they do is they take a game that's running on your computer, Gav. And a lot of people used to do this by hand, but now AI supercharges this. You build a system which says, like, how does, when I press spacebar to jump in a game, how does the game react to that? Okay, let's have an engine that tries to do a jump, and it matches and goes, okay, I press spacebar and the view shifted, but it didn't tilt quite right, and it didn't have the right velocity, and it didn't have the right, okay. And it iterates over and over and over again, across every system, like inventories, sound effects, movement, physics, you name it.
