Market insight and analysis. You're listening to the opening bell of CNBC's Squawk on the Street.
Good Tuesday morning. Welcome to Squawk on the Street. Carl Quintanilla with Jim Cramer at Post 9 of the New York Stock Exchange. David Faber has the morning off. Futures riding, some strong action in ships. Amid reports of price hikes at TSM. Some raised guidance today at GM, 3M, Danaher. But the tariff story is rearing its head again as the president preps levies on Canada, maybe some others. And there's the war. Brent back near 91 No ships have transited the strait in the last 24 hours. Watching tropical storm Bertha as well off the Louisiana coast. A road map begins with stock seeking a bounce after notching a third strait negative session, buoyed by chips and some strong results from names like 3M. The president resuming his tariff fight with Canada says he'll impose an additional 50 percent levy on certain Canadian goods. And two weeks since joining the NDX, SpaceX looking to stem that slide as it comes off seven straight losses down 10 of 11 days.
Let's begin with the markets though on track for a higher open fueled in part by tech. Last night on Mad, Jim suggested you might want to broaden your investing horizons. Take a listen.

**Jim Cramer** (1:53)
See, because if you own too much tech, you're going to be slaughtered.
And you won't even know what hit you. For the moment, it's time to go to other sectors. They can make you money without the volatility.

**Carl Quintanilla** (2:08)
Jim, a couple weeks ago, you were like, sell half your micron. And we can see that how this line is developing.

**Jim Cramer** (2:14)
And look, I just think this would never have been a radical proposition, what I would say, which is that when you have a group that is red hot, take off half. And I bump into people from the club all over, they said, take off half. I said, no, you have to be disciplined. And the reason we have to be disciplined is because a lot of this last run, the parabolic move, is not cured by a 20 to 30% decline, because the stock went up more than that.
In the meantime, I was saying, listen, maybe look at 3M. Well, look at 3M. I mean, that's the easy money.
Because Bill Brown has been turning that company around and then there was the inflection. The harder money is the economy, the stock market that's now run by SK Hynix. I mean, it's a crazy thing. We let this SK Hynix in, that's fine. Korea, great partner. But, I mean, where that stock goes, we go. And that's not stable. If you look yesterday, SK Hynix was up 9 when we came in. It was up 10 at 4 AM. And then it was finished down. And it took the whole complex with it. I don't want to be subject to SK Hynix. Now, it is interesting, by the way, remember, they gave me high bandwidth memory chips. I'd rather have been in Utz yesterday than I would have been in SK Hynix.

**Carl Quintanilla** (3:24)
We have a do. We do have a take private and regular chips that you eat.

**Jim Cramer** (3:27)
Yes.

**Carl Quintanilla** (3:28)
That said, Jim, viewers might ask, OK, we see where you're headed. But on days like this, do you have FOMO?

**Jim Cramer** (3:34)
No. Today's, I did the piece yesterday because I said, listen, I think we're going to be up for a while. I don't want to be one of those guys. Remember, I told you yesterday the Journal did this obituary. I said, no, it's not going to be like that. It's going to come back. It's just that I just kind of need to take some profits. And all the callers yesterday wanted to, the notion of it was like, Jim, can we get back in? We get back in. I said, no, this is still a very good chance to take a little while. And look at some of these other companies that are doing so well, that are not connected to the data center.
