Let's talk about some etiquette rules. Rashad to my boy, I don't even know if he wants me to say his name, but.

Rashad Bilal (0:07)

Okay.

Troy Millings (0:07)

Rashad to, yeah, you know, a friend of mine, we recently had a conversation. He was like, I think on Black Eyed, I need to really just have a series on etiquette, because people don't know. So one of the things that he brought up is like, look, if somebody, whoever is the head of the table, you go to a business meeting, right? You've been invited, there's somebody that's the head of the table, figuratively or just literally, but the person that's probably going to pay for the bill, the person that curated the vibe.

Okay, this is important. You got to follow the lead of that person.

Rashad Bilal (0:44)

Do people need etiquette classes in 2026?

Troy Millings (0:46)

Over 1,000 percent.

Rashad Bilal (0:47)

Okay.

Troy Millings (0:48)

You got to follow the lead of that person, meaning, technically in that situation, nobody should start eating until everybody gets their food.

Rashad Bilal (0:56)

Yes.

Troy Millings (0:57)

Definitely don't start eating before that person is here.

Rashad Bilal (0:59)

Yes.

Troy Millings (1:00)

And I got some people like, oh, you trying to close a business deal, right? I'm trying to help you guys out.

That's one. You don't leave until said person leaves. Yes. Said person is the leader. You can't leave before said person leaves, right? Everybody orders at the same time.

Rashad Bilal (1:23)

Yes.

Troy Millings (1:24)

A lot of restaurants now, they take every order at once, like they take the appetizer thing and dessert at once.

Don't scarf down your entree, then order the cake, and don't order dessert. Dessert should never be ordered in that situation. It should only be ordered.

Rashad Bilal (1:44)

Or tell them why.

Troy Millings (1:45)

Well, because you're doing too much.

It's a set agreement when you go out to dinner that we have appetizer, we have an entree. Dessert is always optional. Dessert is always an optional situation. So it can be seen as, A, you could potentially be doing too much as far as the meal is concerned, and you're too hungry, literally. And B, it could be deemed as too much of being inconsiderate of the bill.

Rashad Bilal (2:18)

Bill, yeah, yeah.

Troy Millings (2:19)

Right? Once again, watch your drinks.

Cocktails and basic level wine.

Rashad Bilal (2:27)

But that's what happens, because the drinks get to flowing, then the extra, yo, can I get another wagyu?

Oh, you got a wagyu importer from Argentina? Bring that, and it's like, okay, my boy.

Troy Millings (2:38)

Be careful on your drink orders. Read the room. If, wait to order. If everybody's ordering a drink, order a light cocktail, order a mid-level level wine.

Don't order the most expensive drink in the menu.

Rashad Bilal (3:01)

Just because.

Troy Millings (3:02)

Just because you're not paying for it. That can be deemed inconsiderate and that can be deemed weird.

But also, if nobody's drinking, don't be the one person to drink. If nobody's drinking at a table, that's for a reason. Yeah, for sure.

Rashad Bilal (3:17)

And if you're in a business setting, I don't think you should be drinking anywhere. Well, that's another thing too.

Troy Millings (3:22)

And technically, I was always taught, never have a business meet, lunch meetings is the worst thing you can do.

Rashad Bilal (3:28)

Yeah, I agree.

Troy Millings (3:29)

Or meet for dinner.

If you want to meet somebody for business, especially if it's your first time, especially if you're trying to present something to us. There's a few different ways to handle business. If we're just getting together and we're just catching a vibe as far as filling each other out, pause, and that's one. But when I was in business, I was presenting things as far as investments, life insurance. And I was always taught never-

Rashad Bilal (3:55)

Never do lunch or dinner.

Troy Millings (3:56)

Do lunch or dinner because A, it's not a serious conversation. You're going to get easily distracted. You're trying to put papers on a table that has food and drinks. There's music playing and people talking. It's not a good setting for that.

And they'll take you more serious.

Rashad Bilal (4:10)

For sure.

Troy Millings (4:11)

You don't go to the doctor over dinner.

Rashad Bilal (4:13)

Yeah.

Troy Millings (4:14)

You don't meet your lawyer at lunch.

Rashad Bilal (4:17)

It's better for the client to come meet you anyway because the conversion is higher.

Troy Millings (4:20)

And it's a controlled environment.
