Welcome back to Dumb-Dumbs & Dragons, where improvisers who've never roleplayed before journey into the world of Dungeons & Dragons. I am the great wizard Bortlesnort, your host! Our heroes have a magic school, but Quinny doesn't have a patron. Gartok helped convince the ghost of Phineas he had done good in the world. Butthole used his divination powers and meteor swarm to destroy a djinn, and Quinny discovered Captain Planteer had killed Baba Yaga. Will the school be a success? And can Quinny get his powers back? Find out next on Dumb-Dumbs and Dragons.
Tom McGee (1:13)
Dumb-Dumbs, eventful things are occurring across the planet of Torreal. Things in Faerun, things in the Planteer Nation, things in city-states and countries, provinces, towns, across the planet. But here in Asgard, perhaps the biggest news of all is the death of Quinny's patron, Baba Yaga, whose decapitated head has been held up on the Torreal portal projections across the realm and is cause for celebration as the famed evil witch is dead. Ding dong, et cetera.
So as celebrations ring out across the land of another evil monster put down, here in the castle in Asgard, we have your reactions to cut to. Because as you'll recall, at the end of last season, we found out this news and then immediately jumped away. Now, I want to preface all this by saying we're going to spend more. We've been doing a lot of kind of run from place to place. Been a lot of immediately following. We're going to spend a little bit of time in Asgard over the next little bit. So I obviously want to get immediate reactions.
Ryan LaPlante (2:24)
Just you wait, activate the portal. No, no, I mean, keep going.
Tom McGee (2:30)
Stranger things have happened. But I want to kind of cover a bit of a little stretch of time in Asgard. But I also don't want to rob us of our immediate reactions because of course this is tremendously big news having dealt with the famed crone for some time, both in an antagonistic capacity and as an unlikely ally to Quinny. I want to make sure we deal with this before we move on. So let's sort of zoom back into that scene as everyone is huddled around the secret Toriel portal. Secret Toriel portal. Yeah, I'm not pronouncing it any better this season. Buried deep in the castle. As all of you witness, Captain Toriel burned the head to ash in his hand.
Ryan LaPlante (3:17)
Oh, see, I needed that. Oh, I don't know.
Tyler Hewitt (3:20)
I think I did too.
Ryan LaPlante (3:22)
Yeah.
Laura Hamstra (3:22)
Uh, are we sure that was the real Baba Yaga? I'll just throw it out there.
Ryan LaPlante (3:29)
Look to Quinny. No.
Tyler Hewitt (3:31)
Uh, Tom, we covered earlier that the connection, at least magic connection, had been severed prior to her seeming execution. So, am I feeling anything different now seeing her, my patron, uh, dead? Did, did, was there any additional sensation?
Tom McGee (3:54)
You want me to insight check?
Tyler Hewitt (3:55)
Sure.
Tom McGee (3:56)
Any other magic-y folks are welcome to do this?
Ryan LaPlante (3:58)
Oh, I think, yeah, Butthole won't sanctionally do that, yeah. He, he's constantly farting guidance on himself. That's just who he is.
Tyler Hewitt (4:04)
It's a natural one. I will re-roll it.
Tom McGee (4:05)
Sorry.
Tyler Hewitt (4:05)
It's been, it's been a minute, folks.
Tom McGee (4:09)
It's a halfling dread roll.
Tyler Hewitt (4:10)
It's been a week for you. It's been a minute for me.
Tom McGee (4:14)
Time dilation.
Tyler Hewitt (4:14)
Not, not a whole lot better, but better than a one. Insight, you say?
Tom McGee (4:18)
Yes.
Tyler Hewitt (4:19)
So that's an eight.
SPEAKER_3 (4:21)
I got a 24 insight.
Ryan LaPlante (4:23)
30
Tyler Hewitt (4:24)
Good Lord. When you're hanging out with friends who have been to therapy, the insight scores are just nuts.
Tom McGee (4:38)
So, Quinny, you, I think, as is often the way, and part of the reason we go to therapy is to have someone else point out what is, what is perhaps glaringly obvious to others, but, but invisible to ourselves. I think for you, so much of this has been your warlock powers, particularly since teaming up with Baba Yaga have really just been an extension of, of your will. And I think that's, for me, one of the things I've always really liked about the, the Roguelock combo is it makes the warlocky stuff feel just like, instead of drawing my bow, it's like I want to hit that person at distance. And the way you're doing it is by Eldritch Blasting them, but it's still, you know, it's, it's more instinctual than it is consciously, like, yes, now I will cast this.
