So I've been thinking a lot about what it means to continue doing Yah Lah But. In these crazy times, there's always some dire news about how humans are going to be replaced and how the media industry will be the first to be made redundant with AI taking over everything. But the funny thing is, a lot of listeners still come up to me with a message to keep doing what you're doing. I guess amidst all this chaos and uncertainty, sometimes we need to huddle together and make sense of the craziness in this world. Together, that's all we need to get through the day. So do us a favour. If Yah Lah But has ever helped you feel a little less alone in this crazy world, help us hit the follow button on this app. It means a lot to us. Thanks for listening.

Terence Yeak (0:43)

Ba ba ba ba.

Haresh Tilani (0:44)

Your thrice weekly podcast where we talk about the hottest news with a touch of what, Terence?

Terence Yeak (0:49)

Good old humour.

Haresh Tilani (0:50)

Good old humour, man. How is life, Terence?

Terence Yeak (0:55)

Now it feels like we're back in 2020, with the COVID back again. Everyone's staying indoors, and there's a lot of mask wearing. Last night, I did a workout in my bedroom, you know.

Squats and calisthenics and all that. It's like 2020 all over again.

Haresh Tilani (1:10)

I thought you were going to say 2015

Terence Yeak (1:12)

Oh no, not 2015 I can't even think back that far, like what we did. But COVID, I very clearly remember, like, you know, we moved activities indoors and all. So yeah, yesterday, I really, wow, I felt it.

We're back in another, you know, not to say crisis, but we have to adjust our lifestyles for this new thing.

Haresh Tilani (1:32)

But you think you are one of those, like can see the dark in the tunnel while everyone else is still oblivious or not?

Terence Yeak (1:42)

I mean, when I walk around outside, I think maybe about 20 to 30% of people are wearing masks. I'm one of them. But I literally saw this morning people were playing tennis with the haze outside like 200 or whatever it was.

Haresh Tilani (1:55)

I mean, when you came into the office with a mask, one of our teammates asked you what I was watching.

Terence Yeak (1:58)

What's wrong?

Haresh Tilani (2:00)

What's wrong?

Terence Yeak (2:01)

How much?

Haresh Tilani (2:01)

He's like, I just watched that, I was like, that's a very, it's the early adopter and someone who maybe-

Terence Yeak (2:09)

This was what it was at the start of COVID, right? I think you were a skeptic about wearing mask and all. And I was like, no, I don't want to wait for the government to tell me what to do. I'm just going to take charge of my own health and body.

Haresh Tilani (2:20)

But I mean, now also when it's sunny, you use umbrella and all.

Terence Yeak (2:23)

Correct. That was a different thing. Now I don't use umbrella because there's no sun. There's no sun.

You are waiting for government to tell us to wear mask?

Haresh Tilani (2:32)

No, no, no. So I mean, I will wear mask if-

So this is where I also was thinking this morning, should I be wearing a mask? Should I be wearing a mask? My wife is wearing a mask, but I figured, okay, just from bus stop to office, okay lah, okay lah, okay lah, for now lah. But it might change lah, it might change. Cause I got a kid also, and I fall sick and all, I don't think it's-

Terence Yeak (2:51)

It's not just about you anymore, it's not just about-

Haresh Tilani (2:53)

Don't try and corner me into being like selfish and self-centred, okay?

Terence Yeak (2:56)

No corner, just questioning, questioning, questioning.

Haresh Tilani (3:00)

Everything I do is like, it's not about you lah, okay? It's not about you. You go to the toilet, it's not about you lah, okay? Other people also need to care.

Terence Yeak (3:05)

That's true, actually. But I mean, do you think that more people should be wearing masks when walking around?

Haresh Tilani (3:13)

I mean, the one thing that I found surprising was when like, the Indonesian, one of the ministers said, oh, you know, we should be able to cool like, stop the fires within a month. And he almost said it, he's like, oh, it's happening soon. But a month is a long ass time lah. So when I heard that, then I was like, okay, if it's going to be that long, this is not good lah. Then, Yah Lah, like I think it's something that maybe everybody needs to wake up to lah.
