Hello, and welcome to the 6 Figure Creative Podcast. I'm your host, Brian Hood. If this is your first time listening to the show, first of all, thank you for giving this podcast a chance. It means a lot that you are giving me your undivided attention right now, or maybe divided attention. Maybe you're doing something else like on a walk or doing the dishes. But this podcast, every single week, I come to you with some sort of topic we're going to discuss, whether it's with a really awesome guest, amazing guest, whether it's with a co-host or whether it's a solo episode like me, like I've done lately because I'm traveling right now. The goal of the show is to help you not just earn more, but build a business that you actually love, something that helps bring life to you instead of sucking the soul away from you. And that's kind of the topic we have today. If you saw the title of this episode, I want to talk about boundaries, things you need to put into place with your clients so that you have a happy, healthy, profitable business, and you can have all of those things. Now, if you are a returning listener, we're going to get to that topic in a second, but I just want to give you a quick update. First of all, thank you for continuing to listen to the show. If you joined me last week on the show, same room, same place. It's literally just been a day for me, although it's been a week for you. I'm still in Koh Samui, Thailand with my wife. We're still traveling around. We actually went out to a night market last night, which is kind of one of the fun parts about traveling Thailand is they have night markets in a lot of the cities where they just have stalls set up, and you kind of get to play this game. I call it the food gamble game, and that's where you walk around at the different food stalls and try to say which one of these will not lead me to the toilet sooner than I should be.
And so we played that game last night. I believe we both won because we're both feeling good today, but we just wandered around. There was like they had live music. There's a bunch of stalls set up, some selling like counterfeit goods, which is always fun to see. My wife had to talk to my wife out of not buying a counterfeit purse that they had. They had all sorts of like Gucci and Louis Vuitton and whatever. I don't know what big brands are out there. I'm not a purse guy or a big brand guy. It was fun. We had a lot of fun last night, and we're really enjoying our time at this resort.
Again, if you listen last week, I talked a bit about it. Just a beautiful resort here on kind of like the hillside, a mountain top in Co-Samui. If you want to look it up, it's called Mantra Samui.
Mantra, I think, M-A-N-T-R-A, Mantra. Mantra, Mantra, whatever you want to say. So that's all the update I have. I mean, again, it's literally been less than 24 hours since I recorded last week's episode. So that means we can dive straight into the episode, the topic that we have today. Again, we already discussed kind of the precursor to this, but I want you to do something for me. Look at your life right now, which is depending on if you're heavily in freelancing or not. This is more for my people that are like already part-time, strong part-time or full-time. Look at your happiness. Look at your health. Look at your stress level and answer this question. Does your business help or hurt those things?
Does your business help your stress levels? Does your business help or hurt your health? Does your business help or hurt your mental health?
Many business owners, especially as we get more and more successful as business owners, we tend to trade our mental health, our physical health, sometimes our emotional health and stress levels. We trade those things. We hurt those things in order to make more profit. And today, I want to dive into ways that you can actually put boundaries in place in your business so that you can have both profit and you can have lower stress levels. You can have higher health, more time to work on yourself to be your best self. And the reason I want to talk about this is because there is no point in building a profitable, huge business where the sky is the limit if we hate ourselves, if we hate our lives, if we are stressed out all the time, if we don't get to travel the world sometimes. Although I know not every business allows you to work from a laptop and travel. But as creatives, we tend to just let clients walk all over us because we don't put these boundaries in place that allow us to run our business in a way that is more healthy for us.
