September 17, 2026

This is part 1 of a 2-part recap! Next Gen NYC gets its first ever reunion, and Brooks is ready to rumble. Well, if not, we’ll get to hear him say Crypto Torture House a few times. Shai and Charlie are getting the most flack, but Shai is the only one to let it get under his collar.

Ronnie Karam (0:21)

Hello and welcome to Watch What Crappens. I'm Ronnie. That's Ben over there. Hello, Ben.

Ben Mandelker (0:28)

Hi, Ronnie. How's it going? Good.

Ronnie Karam (0:31)

Are you excited? It's your last day at work.

Ben Mandelker (0:34)

I know it's my last day at work. It was supposed to be my second to last day of work, but our screener for Orange County didn't come in on time. So I won't be able to recap it with you before I fly off on my little European vacay, which is what I'm doing.

Ronnie Karam (0:47)

Norway.

Ben Mandelker (0:49)

Yeah, a little Norway, Portugal's action. So I'm going to be there all next week, and then I'll be all fresh as a daisy, ready for us to go on to a tour.

Ronnie Karam (0:59)

Yeah. Well, that's coming up. Tour starts October 3rd in Kansas City and Chicago. We're going to a bunch of places, and we're doing it all between now and February 28th. So go to our website, watchwhatcrappens.com, and you'll see a calendar there for everything, and tickets are already available. So go buy some tickets, one up to you. Okay, we're going to finish with the Golden Crappies in New York City on February 25th.

Lord only knows who will be joining us.

Ben Mandelker (1:28)

Lord only knows.

Ronnie Karam (1:30)

Ask the Lord. Ask the Lord who's doing it and give us a holler so we know. It would be easier to know. Today is a recap for Next Gen NYC, the first reunion ever.

If you want that on video, you can get that over on our Patreon. That's also where you get ad free listening. It's where you get bonus episodes. It's a good time. Okay? Go over there. So today, Next Gen NYC, episode 13, reunion part one.

Ever.

Ben Mandelker (2:06)

I know.

Ronnie Karam (2:06)

What did you think of the reunions?

Ben Mandelker (2:08)

I thought it was really good. Also loved the set. And I don't know why they never have just like one big series of like cushioned benches.

You know, this was so, this was great. Like they normally have all these sofas and couches and chairs. Like they did it perfectly. They just had like a nice, it was like the edges, like if you go into like a bar, you know, it's just like one long row of tufted cushions to sit on. So I thought it was great. I liked it.

Ronnie Karam (2:40)

What did you think?

Ben Mandelker (2:41)

I love that.

Ronnie Karam (2:41)

That's my favorite. Yeah, it was good. I did love the couch as well. I thought so too, but I was like, damn, that is one gigantic couch. They've got 90 people on this show.

I realized how many people there were on that show until I saw the couch. You know, you really just don't think about things until you see the furniture involved.

Ben Mandelker (2:59)

Yeah, that's how you really know. Yeah.

Ronnie Karam (3:02)

Brooks really came in here. I think Charlie clocked Brooks pretty well when he said, Oh, you know, Brooks gets a lot of shit the season for not doing anything. So now he comes and comes blazing, which is true. Brooks came in a turquoise jacket and was like, I'm going to get them today.

No one's going to mess with me when I've got this dark of a spray tan on. And he tried to go for it, but it fizzled out pretty quickly. Nobody gave it to him. They're like, okay. It's like when your toddler is screaming in the back and you're just like, okay. And then you just get out of the car and you take a bus and just leave your baby in the car.

Ben Mandelker (3:43)

Yeah, I think Meredith clearly gave him a pep talk and like, you are being too passive this season.

Ronnie Karam (3:49)

You got to get in the mix.

Ben Mandelker (3:51)

So he came in ready, ready to fight. I mean, he'll be fine.

Ronnie Karam (3:57)

Don't leave your babies in the car. No, no, that was not nice.

Ben Mandelker (4:02)

It's a fan of things.

But he came in. I mean, I don't think Brooks is really in any danger of being dropped from the show because he's Meredith's son and he's, you know, but he definitely, he really he went from being the center of the show to being at the edge of a very, very, very long, beautiful couch. That's not good.

Ronnie Karam (4:25)

Well, was he the center?

Ben Mandelker (4:27)

I mean, last season, he was like the center. He was like the one is like, I know this person and I know that person, and we do this thing together. And he was sort of like our narrator, our like our focal point, I felt like. And it was about him just, you know, having just like dealing with New York City. And I don't know, I felt like he was a bit more central. It feels like a haze last year. But this year he was really barely in the show, to be honest, or just felt like he was barely in the show.
